Another new one for me, 'What Again', which, according to many photos I looked at, doesn't usually have streaks and spots like this. The coloring reminds me of the earlier one I posted, Gizmo the Gremlin. I love the intense blue beards. This bee seems to like it too.
The streaks & spots can be caused by a virus. All irises have it but shows up when the plants are under stress. It may be absent in later blossoms on the same plants.
Other things can come out as well. We found that a SDB would produce extra flower parts on the teminial flower if there was cold damage. It did not do this until after it was introduced. Don't say that plants are not sneaky.
And these opened up too, but I don't know their names.
The second one isn't really a dwarf. I think it's an intermediate iris. Someone gave me a few of them years ago and now it's growing all over the place.
I just totally love the beards on the SDB's now -- just about any color combination you could dream up! Too bad the big ones are much tougher for beard color changing!
