I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

I would like to remove:

Oxalis, I am constantly digging up bulbs which quickly grow from seed. If you mow over a clump and the flowers shoot out then they will drop seeds and you will have a clump everywhere the seed fell. They grow cluster bulbs quickly then they have a long tap root with more bulbs at the bottom so you have to dig down at least 8 inches to get all the pea size bulbs.

Deadnettle, Argh!! each plant has a thousand voluntary seedlings!! Last year everyone's yard was covered with them. The good thing about this is that it withers away when it gets hot.

Slugs! Last year they started eating my daylilies. Most of my hostas are slug resistant and the ones that are not I just tuck pine straw around them, slugs cannot slide through pine straw. In this neighborhood everyone has pine trees so all I have to do is grab a bag off the curb on trash day. Works for me.

Mine is old catalogs. I get a ton of these each spring so why not make good use of them as weed block? Thumbs up

If we could have more than 3 things permanently removed, I would add wild rose and all the dang gravel that came with the house. The gravel is the larger stones and heavy to remove. I was going to add leaf cutter bees but I really don't mind them that much. The leaves on some plants don't look great but I do like having them pollenate.

I'll go with catalogs. They come despite my unchecking the boxes for "do you want a catalog?"
"do you want a newsletter?"
I keep a seperate mail account for all online purchases. It loads up daily.I just hit delete and its taken care of. The realmail box loads at the same pace ,most goes to recycle if its catalogs or junk, which it is mostly.

I have not seen many 'list'. It has turned into a long discussion and there is a lot more that needs to be talked about. If it was an open discussion there would not be a list, you can just talk about what ever you want to eradicate. Most of us have more than three things.

That's an idea for this thread and maybe use the 2014 thread for the 3 things to list ... that way everyone is happy.

I agree I check very few boxes but most of the catalogs I get are from people I do not do business with. I think they are a waste of money to print for one thing. I would much rather use the online catalog because I can make the print bigger and the pictures are nicer. It's just more fun to look at.
I got a really good spam guard so most stuff goes in there and get deleted, but I do have the option to scroll through just to be on the safe side. I also started a separate account for online plants and it has virginiarose in the title. Green Grin!

I have several separate accounts - it's a GREAT way to categorize things.

Any paper, thick enough, is good weed barrier.
I think we should not use glossy.
I like cardboard because an unfolded box can cover a large area without a lot of work.

The only problem I've had with paper or cardboard is the cats trying to dig it back. Great little excavators when they want to be.

Catalogs from plantsmen I dont patronize means someone I do buy from has sold their mailing list. What a waste of money.

Gee, I have several cats who visit my catnip and I've never seen evidence of digging.
I do mulch over it but I often (like now) get the cardboard spread long before I get the mulch home. There is a lot of area out there right now that's been bare cardboard since Fall.

And resources.

I am FURIOUS with High Country Gardens because they refused to ship to my P.O. Box and MADE me give my home address (which I NEVER give) PROMISED me it was only for shipping, and then sold it. I wrote letters and have not bought from them since.

I only have one that's a real die-hard cardboard excavator out in the new vegetable bed. I laid some over the walking onions I planted last year and the majority of it is in shreads.
