"I didnt know 5 plants in a 18 inch container would survive."

JoAnn, this 11" Bloommaster pot takes something like 25 plants !

And this is, I think, a 12" or 14" one

WOW is right. We are getting a nice rain.Pretty steady for the past 3 hours. I had planted hostas( hand watered) and Agastaches(hand watered) all within the past 2 days. I'm glad I dont have to carry water to the slope again.

Thanks. Downside of stuffed containers- they need lots of food, water, and fussing. I'm using less and less containers. Too much work. In the ground, they are far more self-sufficient.

It goes for coleus too. Those big ones get tall and lanky even with pinching, by Aughst.

Jo Ann, coleus don't get lanky if given enough sun, food, and water. Those stuffed containers I posted above were photos taken in August. Sometimes if they start getting too tall I chop off short, stick in fresh cuttings and let them root in place.

I often have tiny plants blown out of my bloommaster pots before they're well established. I just take fresh cuttings from other coleus and poke into the soil. They grow up Hilarious!

Here's another August container,

How many perennials/container depends on a lot a things
Size of plant to start with
eventual size expected of plant
how long you intend to keep in the container (Years? will you leave it in the pot over winter, or transplant to garden in fall, etc)

Another option, one or two big perennial with a few smaller annuals.

That's kinda what I was wondering. She said she told her DH not to offer that one for sale. I just chuckled ... but they were nice and good about refunding my money. I've never had trouble with Agastaches and I grow a lot of them here. But this one was half-croaked when I got it. Shrug!

Tee,

Order it from High Country Gardens. Lovey dubby Thumbs up http://www.highcountrygardens....

That's where I get a lot of my Agastaches from (besides Salvias and a lot of other plants). Lovey dubby Thumbs up

The rupestris I have growing in containers have been there for a few years, Spring through Spring. I love it! Lovey dubby Drooling

They've been surviving the Winters. I even have Agastache 'Color Spires Blue' and Agastache 'Color Spires Pink' surviving a few Winters in containers right now.
Welcome to the Agastache and Salvias Forum!

Hummingbirds are beautiful flying jewels in the garden!
