Rolling on the floor laughing I was wondering if I'd get asked about that! The Armenian food in question is Manti. Googling brought up things unlike the traditional recipe we know. It is found in the Treasured Armenian recipes cookbook. The 1 inch, canoe shaped dumplings (filled with ground lamb, garlic, fresh parsley and onion) are baked in butter till crisp, then put in chicken broth and served with Madzoon(plain yogurt) on it.

The Catts are l to r : LC Mary Dickert 'Mendenhall', BC Astral Waif, LC Irene Finney 'Spring's Best'. They all look so similar, don't they? The best scent is Mary Dickert by a mile.

Ursula, Ron Williamson is sequential, so there were actually 3 flowers on the spike. But each bloom does last 2.5 months so well worth the money!

It is, Ursula. And an all day project with 2 people. Everyone who has it for the first time is astonished, as it is a very unique flavor. I know of nothing that is remotely similar.

Yes!! Smiling

Very pretty table display, Janice!

Todd, it sure is nice to have a bloom lasting that long.

And now for something totally different - Bulbophyllum patens. I noticed it just busting out with buds and blooms everywhere today. I enjoyed taking these pictures, knowing very well that the Camera will bring out some amusing ( ?) details on this Bulbo.
Here we go, the blooms measure about 1.5 inches:

And some more stuff -
walking into the greenhouse looking at the Iwanagaara Appleblossom and also Lc Irene Finney 'Springs Best' with both spikes open. ( the third spike had broken on its own, other Lc IFs are still to come...) If you look closely, you will have more than a twofer.

One of the big bloomers this month is my Cattleya skinneri alba 'Debbie' FCC/AOS

The whole plant measures ca 5 foot to one side and over 5 feet to the other. I had trouble fitting it into the greenhouse last Fall and so placed it into the sun-room until January, when I made again room for it in the greenhouse so I wouldn't lose out on the blooming season.
As a result, the plant will bloom in two waves this year. One side is flowering now and the other is full of buds not broken through the "skins" yet.

To give you an idea of the plant, I can't fit it all into the picture.
