We covered a old unused chain link dog kennel with white vinyl lattice my DH attached with the flat plastic ties that you can easily adjust to fit and they lock in place. I then planted a variety of clematis to grow up on it in sunny areas. Areas the clematis don't cover look so much better, my compost bins are in the kennel and are no longer visible as the lattice creates a better attractive visiual barrier.

We used a old iron headbroad from my DH's childhood painted it black and set it on one end attached it to a metal fence post to make a very sturdy support for a climbing John Cabot rose. This summer with the mild winter and plenty of rain the rose is about 12 feet tall. It is raining here today so can't take pictures will have to look if I already took some.

My hubby made a treated wood arbor to the plans I wanted from a photo I saw in a magazine. He also created iron supports for two honeysuckle vines about 10 feet apart that arches over to meet at the top middle and put decorative touches on the arch to dress it up.

Oh, I do like the idea of using the plastic lattice to cover the chain link dog kennel! DH is looking around for enough kennel pieces for me to use as an auxiliary to my GH. I may have to steal your idea!

Please feel free to use the idea they would be easy to attach to any frame work. My hubby had made another large cedar planter for our patio we wanted to block our indoor sheltie's view of the next door neighbor when he was outside. The planter box was not quite tall enough so he made a frame using pvc pipe and attached some of the plastic lattice as a view blocker and ,a trellis. This worked kind of but the dog would look around the planter and still bark if he heard the neighbors outside so my hubby made a small gate from lattice and pvc framing that fits between the planter and the start of my garden which is right off the patio. Finally our little guy is much more quite all for the love of a sheltie. Hilarious! Anyway we were sitting on the patio and I asked my hubby if it would work to cover the old kennel to improve it's look the rest is history and improved what was to me an eyesore.
