That's not a display, it is an orchid guide book. Just great, Kathy!

Moving plants inside is a good way to discover other things besides promising spikes etc. - some roots have attached themselves firmly to a neighboring plant, to be joined forever...
The Pelatantheria insectifera grow right into the Baptistonia echinata bark, can't be dislodged without damage. And they are buds and blooms!!

And there are the late blooms on my Stanhopea wardii - since the plant is rather large, this spike never reached the free-pendulous stage. The cage smells really nice! ( It will stay outside a while longer, it is happier being kept a little cooler)

And Cymbidium Amazing 'Marlow Orchids' surprised me with a second spike this Summer. ( ensifolium x erythrostylum)

Very nice, Ursula, and isn't Stanhopea wardii a great orchid?! Mine has bloomed three times this summer and is about to bloom again. And the aroma is just incredible.

At the Amherst Orchid Society sale there were some folks raving about their S. wardiis. Guess it was a great year for them. I love the cym! Lovey dubby My Pelatantheria insectifera hasn't bloomed in 4 years. Any tips?

Carol, we had a nice downpour which I was happy about since it filled my rainwater containers! But luckily we didn't get that damaging wind and it was over in a short while.
Kathy, I bought the Pelatantheria this Spring, it was hanging next to the Tuberolabiums in the cage in dappled shade.

I started a thread on moving my plants back inside, I will add to this as I go along. The "shadier Orchids" are still in the cage and all Bulbos and lots, lots more.

This is Stanhopea wardii, part 4. I knew it had opened last night when I opened the back door and took a whiff.

Pholidota imbricata is putting out several of these weird spikes. I'm not sure what to expect next. Perhaps rattlesnakes?

Jim, Stanhopea wardii is beautiful...when you say "I opened the back door and took a whiff."
Is that a pleasant sensation? or something more sinister?

Quite the display Kathy! I'm envious!

We have not dropped below 50 F yet but there is risk for frost tonight, so I moved my Cymbidiums inside for the season.

Funky Stanhopea Jim..if only would last longer than a week!

I cannot get ensifolium or its hybrids to bloom...rats!

Stanhopea wardii has a powerful but wonderful fragrance, Lindsey. I think Ursula will back me on that. Some other Stanhopeas have no fragrance at all.
