Well, it's getting close now! I was just out checking on it, and even though I'd already lost the sunlight I took a few pictures. Won't be long now!

I purchased this 24" tree rose from Regan's and received and potted it up in January, and it just went into the ground a couple of weeks ago. And I think this is actually the tree rose that had almost half of the trunk missing from the roots to almost halfway up the trunk -- but so far it's very happy. And I love the glossy foliage. The other tree I ordered from them, VAVOOM, is still sitting there in the pot and has not broken dormancy yet -- and I don't think it ever will. It apparently is NOT happy!

My Ketchup and Mustard that i bought in California is growing well, but it was one of the first to get blackspot. We've had rain at night several times this spring, so I've sprayed twice already.

I'm very unhappy! I went to Tagawa's Nursery (the closest LGS to me) and talked to Lynn (the rosarian there) back in Feb to be assured that she'd gotten K&M otherwise I would have ordered it elsewhere. She said, no problem, K&M plus Sugar Moon (but not Twilight Zone).

Went there yesterday to take stock of all their roses (and take pictures.. and of course I left my camera at home!!). NO K&M. NO SugarMoon. In fact, like nobody new or exciting! Talk about BLEH! In fact, the only blue roses they have this year are Intrigue & Heirloom! Not even BlueGirl or Stainless Steel or Sterling Silver! They had those last year.. tons of them, and they sold out like hotcakes in the beginning of their sales ("Night of Wine & Roses"). I'm VERY disappointed!

Here's a teeny sample of the roses at Tagawa's Nursery. You can see on the right that the Midas Touch are from Weeks, the ones on the left are from Star. Thumb of 2012-04-17/Skiekitty/a83ce6

Hopefully Paulino's will have K&M & SugarMoon.. I have to make a run up that way & find out! I just hate that drive! I *did* go to a different nursery on Saturday & they had gotten in 2 K&Ms.. but those sold that same day, so they'll get more. I *did* pick up a Midnight Blue (really good shape) because I had lost mine (I killed the poor thing.. it really needs partial sun!). Then we got snow on Sat night and it snowed half the day yesterday, but it didn't stick, so I'm not complaining.. free moisture!!

Betty - I just hope that it shows more Mustard than it's showing now.. that's what really looks soo cool about K&M!

These were finally open yesterday, but unfortunately once again I didn't make it out there until it was in afternoon shade. I'll try to get myself out there this morning while it's in full sunlight to see if I can get a couple more shots. The first two pictures are from two days ago while they were still opening buds.

I hope this will be enough mustard for you Toni -- and I think in sunlight they will be much brighter. I totally love it!

It's a beauty! I first saw it as a numbered test plant in a public rose garden.

Just sent you the link to the existing database entry Betty. Green Grin! Sometimes it's easier to search with just part of the name. Thumbs up

Mine opened today...pretty impressive for a maiden bloom the day after strong winds and heavy rain.

Thank you. The bloom wasn't as large as I had hoped. Should I cut off the other buds and let the bush grow for a few more months? It's still not very tall. I planted it bare root last November.
The canes are nice and thick, though.

Are there any special instructions?
Thanks!

This is a hybrid, so it can't be grown from seed.

DJJohnny - please don't fall for the unscrupulous sellers on eBay, Amazon, & other places that sell "rare" rose seeds with gorgeous pictures but end up sending you Rosa rugosa, which will look NOTHING like the picture!! I posted this a while back as I'm an eBay-aholic & live the 'shopped pictures.
