OrchidWiz has some bloom in Feb, more in March and the most in April and May with June coming in third. It will probably be May by the time this spike crawls out of the foliage! Hilarious!

They are looking good, all tucked inside the new greenhouse.

I'm not having any luck getting a contractor for my lanai conversion. In Florida, the required hurricane specs may push the cost out of reach. Three contractors are still working on plans but I am losing hope. Sad

So sorry to hear that, Jim! What else can you do to not repeat this winter?

Yes Kathy, one is darker almost red the other looks very light orange/yellow. Fingers crossed
that the blooms will open despite their shipment.
Jim, can you just go ahead and do a 'lean to' type greenhouse that is attached to the house?
I had considered that style, using the side door from the garage as the greenhouse entry.

I don't think that would work with the pool and all, Lindsey. I'm going to have to think about it.

Besides giving your orchids protection from the elements, it privides good light and background for pictures. I'm so jealous... Big Grin

I got these at J&L last month so I can't really take credit for setting the buds, but at least I haven't blasted them yet.

It's cold here again so I will be moving orchids inside today. Two nights in the garage should be enough this time. Still nothing firm on the lanai conversion.

Sorry to hear that, Jim.
Somehow a large contraption on wheels which can be folded up when not in use, might be attractive?
Someone posted this Greenhouse door a few years ago. Is there such a thing as an equivalent from a decent builder made for the lanai?Thumb of 2011-02-12/Ursula/460ab6

Jim, I know you must be at your wits end..it's just so NOT RIGHT.
I wonder if you could use those propane patio heaters in the lanai, grouping all the plants
in one general area?

Good thought, Lindsey, but if I can just enclose it with some type of translucent pannels, I don't think I will need a heater at all. After all, the garage isn't heated, just enclosed. The trick is to be able to keep it cool enough in summer, warm enough in winter and meet hurricane specs. Three construction companies are still working on it. Meanwhile, I'm busy moving orchids again. Angry

No, Kathy, I don't want to go there for many reasons. Aesthetics, fading or yellowing in the sun and wind damage are three problems and they won't pass hurricane specs.

Jim, how about the heavy clear vinyl -like material that you see on boat dodgers
and outdoor restraunts ?(I can never spell that word!). I've seen them roll up and out
of the way, I've seen them zip or snap together.
