hilo jewel keeps forming spikes and they dry up and die, think its in to much sun.Thumb of 2011-01-20/bree/55b15d defenatly not low humidity. Smells yum like sherbet..

My Chiloscista and Aerangis distinchum's spikes dried up too. Would love to know what it means. Too much light??? Mine were humid too.

Bree, nice spikes. About the Hilo Jewel, does the plant have a good root system to support the spike. Or was the temperature too low perhaps? I hope it makes it next time, it's pretty!

Kathy, I don't think those two are easy bloomers! My Chiloschista lunifera didn't even spike this year.

I thought this Oncidia Charlesworthii 'Mishima' was ending. I lopped off the first spike but a few bottom flowers bloomed in the fall. Then a new spike grew and bloomed and then a third (first pic). Today I found a fourth spike!!

I was secretly thinking the same. They must like all the fuss!


Here's one of the only bulbos (Bulbo biflorum) I have bloomed in all these years. So glad I got another after I lost the first.
