All are beauties Kathy, I love the subtle shading in Phrag Carol Kanzer. It is the camera that I am replacing. I have never been happy with the way it captures some of the colors and its over exposure of tight in shots and in bright light or with flash.

Most of the year my vitellina lives in the basement grow room under lights, temperatures would range from low of 65F at night in winter to max of 80F through day with lights on in summer. It grows under the same lights as used for Catt. and Onc. alliance. I don't think it likes the cold too much as I lost some leaves last year that were closest too window during a cold snap while it was blooming on window sill. The leaves weren't even touching the glass, at least 2" away and they turned black, so I keep it away from the cold now. It is too bad that your buds blasted as they can bloom on for months being sequential, mine lasted for 5 months last year.

The postman just delivered my new camera. Hurray!

We're in the middle of a big thunderstorm and it just hailed here. I've got little ice balls all over the drive and the temperature is 64 degrees. It's the first time I have seen hail since we moved to Florida 13 years ago. I'm thankful the orchids are under the screen in the lanai. Crazy! Also, there is another cold front ariving Wednesday with temps down to the mid-30s. The orchids will be back in the garage come Wednesday afternoon and blankets are on standby in case it goes lower.

Kathy, great show! I think my favorite is paph henryanum.

Ken congrats on the new camera!!!!!! What did you get? You can post your experiments on the photography forum!! http://cubits.org/orchids/foru...

Jim, I feel for you!! What a labor intensive winter for you! And it is sunny and cold here (typical). At least you must be getting faster at the routine! Glad you like my henryanum. I was so pleased that out of all my paphs I had this special guy be a bloomer!!!

Progress on the Cym. sinense 'Pacific Ocean'. Too bad I only have a few beautiful leaves or the whole plant would be such a knock out!

Kathy, does the variegation on the edge the leaf fade as the leaf ages on your Cym. sinense?

My new Camera is a Canon EOS 7D replacing my EOS 300D. I may be in over my head with this model though, tons of different settings and variations to choose from.

Especially love the Wilsonara Pacific Panache and great pics, Todd!

Ken, the variegation does not fade on the older leaves of the Cym. sinense. I have the Canon EOS 50D.

Cym. Eastern Morning 'Shunshoku' today. I got this and the Cym sinense 'Pacific Ocean' from Glen Decker. He specializes in slippers but I always look for his miscellaneous plants for great ones.

Todd, I agree Den. bigibbum var compactum is very susceptible to scale attacks. Just wipe them off? It is still pretty!

I agree, Glen Decker always brings some extra neat stuff to shows. I m looking forwards to the Deep Cut OS in February! Hurray!

In the meanwhile - all 4 spikes are now finally open on the Schomburgkia superbiens.
