C. Tiffin Bell X Blc Eward McDonald has deepened in color and put out a fragrance similar to the magnolia flower. Very nice.

Todd, there are Cyms that bloom in lower light. Maybe those are for you? Cym. dayanum is an example. It likes a cool and not so bright situation. You grow so many beautiful orchids that I can't grow. Guess the grass is always greener...

Kathy, you are doing great with your Cyms.. Guess that means no one is looking for a vacation in the south anymore. Crying The Cym you sent is doubtfully sinense but we will keep trying. The spike is pendant which is not sinense. Cym. sinense flowers are variable but upright. Could it be Cym. bicolor? I def. think it's a species. We are close.

Never had a bicolor. Okay, I just did an inventory.
These aren't here but I have pic files (some are empty).
Chen's Ruby 'Gold Tiger which I sent you.
Cym. Fifi 'Emerald'
Cym kanran http://www.koreanorchid.com/ko...
Cym mini rose (my name for it) I sent a pic already.

Maybe it's the kanran.

Oh a surprise!! Here's another max that has been unhappy for years. A fine balance between too much and too little watering. This year I listened to it. Then today I noticed flowers! The blooms tuck in near the pseudobulbs. There are more buds to go. Happy dance. Hurray!

And the Den. tetragonum var. Hayesianum x self bloom looks especially nice in late afternoon light. Also here's the one B. Little Stars 'Yasuji Takasaki' flower to match.

I thought Max. sangiunea was on the wane weeks ago but here it is still going Thumb of 2011-02-11/Maypoplaurel/5d2bbd I compared it to older photos and some of the blooms have hung on while others left. This one came from Andy's last April and is its first time out.

I've got a Den. lichenestrum with one tiny bloom that is struggling. I've had it since late last summer. It's determined to lose every original leaf. The seller, an amateur grower, sprayed it with copper sulphate and left it in the sun. I found out after the fact. Grumbling Thumb of 2011-02-11/Maypoplaurel/4fb65c

Seems everyone has cyms...I have my one that blooms regularly while the others refuse...yet all are grown the same way...go figure.

Dendrobium kingianum is opening.

Thumb of 2011-02-11/Todd_Boland/587cc0

Epidendrum ibaguense at work is an everbloomer.....more flowers in summer but still a couple of spikes at the moment and several more developing.

Thumb of 2011-02-11/Todd_Boland/d35473

Phrag Michel Tremblay is on flower 7..still one more to go.

I can't take credit for the blooms on this one since I bought it in bud at Silva Orchids last month. I need to take a picture of the whole plant....

Both wonderful. That pink on the tranaie just sets it off. Love the open form. The Lyonara also has a great form. How big are those flowers? Amazing color.

All are nice but my favorites are the Lyonara from Ursula, the Dendrobium kingianum from Todd and the Den. tetragonum var. Hayesianum x self from Kathy. Some of Laurel's Dendrobium postings caught my attention and now I'm convinced that I have to put on a pair of Kathy's buying shoes and begin beefing up my collection. Dens seem to do well for me anyhow.

Jim, I got the Lyonara from Cal -Orchid ( guest vendor at Silvas) I don't see it is listed on their web-site, but maybe he has some more. It has Schomburgkia undulata (= somewhat tall spikes) and Cattleya aurantiaca in its background. It should do very well for you.

God is good, all the time!!!
Beautiful blooms all!! I especially love those floofy catts!!! I usually have lots of bloom by this time but none so far. We have had two terrible winters & mine grow outside. I have had to cover them several times & have twinkle lights among them so they are not blooming as usual. I have a few scapes but not too far along. My Ludisia Discolor is spiking but the tree rats seem to like that one. Looking for warmer weather!!!
