Great phals! I actually have some live phals in bud right now. Can't wait to see them and tag them with NOID names like 'sunset color', etc. That way I can get even more excited if they prosper and bloom again.

Great looking plants Jim, well at least the ones that are alive. Will the Spathoglottis come back from the bulbs? I really like the gold Cymbidium even if it is a little tattered.

Good looking Catts Ursula, love the pure white of C Nancy Off '1010'.

Nice looking blooms on the phals Lindsey. I don't think we give our phals enough credit, they are easy to grow and bloom and last for months. I guess their ease of growing is why the market is flooded with them and they are able to handle a quite a bit of stress that they encounter when they go into some of these store and nurseries for that matter.

funny you say that because for me its been one of the hardest orchids ive had to grow. About the only type ive killed many of. I think its my humidity/heat..paphs must be able to handle more than Phals.??

Bree, the colors on your vandas are so intense! I love that Hilo Jewel!
I don't know what the secret to the Phals is...most of my plants were headed for the dumpster
at the store that I work at, most had no roots left, as they had rotted in the sphagnum while on the shelf.
I just transplant them into a bark mix and almost overnight giant fat roots start growing and the plant takes
off. Our summer is hot and humid as well, so I'm not sure that's the reason for your difficulty growing them. I do put
them out during the summer/fall but they are on a covered porch, I only water them once a week. But clearly there
is a difference ...because I can't get my Paphs to bloom and yours are always so amazing!

I kill Phals the most. They want to be moist but not wet. Sphagnum is okay and then suddenly rots roots. Even coco fiber stays too wet. So I am finally having luck with mounting and aliflor.
Ursula, no luck looking at all the pics for Irene Finney xs on OrchidWiz. They don't have photos for many of the crosses though.

Well the OrchidWiz pics don't match again. None have those thin petals-the flared ones. They are all wider and flared. Am I driving you nuts yet?

Perhaps the cross was recreated and we are looking at a population of babies with different characteristics? The plant didn't look like a division, more like a 4-5 year old baby when I got it, so it is possible. The L anceps x makes sense looking at the narrower petals.
I wouldn't scratch the name into stone/ don't add it to the database. I am not going to sweat it, I will probably never know for sure. The good thing is I do like the plant!

Just wish we could pin it down.

Both C. intermedias opened today here. They must have liked getting the bugs removed this week!
C. intermedia x Bc. Morning Glory and C. intermedia possibly 'Arrandeam'. They don't usually have this pale a lip.
