Hi there. Actually it had few live roots when I got it, Kathy. I had to do major surgery for rot including cutting away all the back bulbs except one viable one that I am propagating. It looks like some version of Cymbidium caniculatum, which is Australian. Is this sounding familiar? The plant turned the corner immediately after surgery and repot and looks lovely. Here you can see the older growth on the right which is somewhat floppy and the newer growth which is very erect. Not a mark on the leaves. I am pretty familiar with Cym viruses which used to be much more common years ago.The second photo shows a flower opening and reflects the actual color, a maroon/black and lastly a close up of the leaves. Bree, that is lovely Catt and it sure looks like Kathy's Summer Spot 'Carmela'.

Scrumptious Todd, love them all. Haven't had a Phrag bloom in 2 years.

Strange looking blooms Laurel, sometimes when plants are recovering the blooms are stunted, maybe some of the later buds will be better or maybe only the next blooming session.

Kathy, I love the color of the little Sophronitis rosea.

Hormidium or Encyclia vitellina,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, another name change, I think I am going to stick with Encyclia

Me too. I sure hope mine looks like that some day! Just beautiful! I will join you on the Encyclia label, Ken.

Spent the whole day organizing pics and I made my first ORCHID BLOG POST!!!!!! http://www.crazyorchidlady.com...
I've decided to talk to you guys and also to myself. Hopefully this will straighten out all my confusions... or maybe it will do the opposite!

Ursula, I only have the one Cym Nut which is blooming here.

Laurel, I need to do a cym inventory soon and compare my list to what I really have. Hopefully by then there will be some good flowers on the plant.

Blc Chia Lin 'New City' has opened the second spike about a month after the first. It's a double bloom as usual. Great size, wonderful fragrance and very reliable.

That's beautiful, Todd. I'll put it on my want list.

I'm sitting here, tissue in hand, as I just finished dicing the last of the jalapenos for the chili I'm making. I may have overdone it a bit as the wooden spoon caught on fire and that's never a good sign.

Bree I have no idea what caused the yellow spots...most of the older leaves are like this but the new ones look OK...no bugs in this plant..maybe it was a fungal problem but that is usually brown spots...????
