Haha! Not really much going on here...we're still 10 degrees below normal, but it's been very pleasant lately. The orchids are being very slow to open, but they are lasting longer, and the humidity hasn't been too low, so I'll take it. Only made it up to 70 degrees today, with strong breeze so the warm growers will be late. Unfortunately, due to our dry winter, fire season has started early here in the west...got a wildfire in San Diego county today, and Az has been burning for a week. Probably going to affect the campers this weekend, or visa versa.
Hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

We cross posted, Ursula. Has your Nageliella bloomed yet? Mine is blooming, but there is no way I could even try to get a pic today, with the breeze. I haven't been able to get a macro when it's calm! Hilarious!

Jim, the Den bensoniae might work for you, it doesn't need a chill to bloom, just tons of sunshine. I water it year around, but it dries up really fast right under the glass ceiling and in the path of the fan. And the scent is really nice!!

Jim, I am just catching up on this thread.

CONGRATULATIONS on the Blue Ribbon!!!!!!

And you look very handsome, along with that massive Grammatophylum scriptum !!

Absolutely stunning!

Was it grown by the pool?

Yes, it is out there in the OC with everybody else. I think the orchids are really liking the OC. Thanks for the complement!

Carol, you've got Tons of stuff blooming away at your house...looking good!
Ursula, I am in awe of those Vandas...They look about 12 feet long and happy as can be!
Jim, I'm sorry to say this, but your plant looks fake, it's so perfect. Like one of those decorator potted silk plants.
You however, look great, perfectly alive and real! Whistling

I've had company all day so not much time to post. Ursula, so many interesting bloomers! I love Dendrobium bensoniae. It is beautiful. Your vandas are doing better than mine as I have none in bloom at the moment. I don't understand why either. They must be adjusting to the OC.. Great group of Neos. Well done, nice show.

Lindsey, that was one hungry slug, what a shame. The Moonbeam X is very nice. Fragrance?

Ursula, As always, more beauties than I can comment on. I recieved my first Neofinita falcata in a trade a couple of weeks ago, so Iwill have to learn how to grow it.

Jim, your Vandas are gathering steam to start blooming soon!

Lindsey, don't you hate slugs!! Grumbling
I like the blooms on Lc. Tokyo Magic 'Moonbeam' x Rhyncholaelia digbyana 'Mrs Chase' very much!

My greenhouse is now almost empty, I repotted lots of stuff. And if it is warm enough tomorrow, the fish will go outside too. I bought 4 hardy Waterlilies this year and I will only take the Paradise fish outside, since they can take lower temperatures than the Golden Gouramies. (The Golden Gouramis are going to the new, really great Aquarium store around here.) Which means the pond season can be a bit longer.

LIndsay, I love that Moonbeam also. Just beautiful, and in that sunny photo it looks like an elegant daffodil. (but will last way longer)

My Enc. Green Hornet opened a new flower, the first of a spike that looks to have 3 or 4 more buds. I'm struck by its similarity to Carol's Enc. lancifolia.
Thumb of 2012-05-27/dyzzypyxxy/dc7721

Enc. Tampensis almost finished. The flowers get a lovely golden glow just before they drop.
Thumb of 2012-05-27/dyzzypyxxy/1b2c81

I'm also thrilled with a surprise that popped up while I was out of town, my first Den. Judith Nakayama has two buds about to open! Such a bonus because the fellow I bought it from told me it had just finished blooming. I'll restrain myself and post a picture as soon as they open.
