Hi Rita, I don't know how I managed to miss this tread. I just love the white Clemitis. I'm loving all my white plants this year and a white clemitis would be beautiful in my group. Hmmmm. where do buy yours? I bought most of the ones I've still got at WalMart in little boxes that they had sitting by the register in the garden center about 4 years ago. They were only $3 and they grew like weeds when I planted them. I sure wish they had them now.
Yours is gorgeous!!! They tulips are stunning too!
Rita, your azaleas are wonderful. I was in Lowe's the other day and they had Azalea on sale. I thought of your photos and considered buying some, but they were less than a foot tall, and I try to buy trees and shrubs from nurseries not big box stores, so I passed them up. I also love those Sorbet Tulips. Makes me want to try to grow some here!
Thanks. I buy all my Azaleas from those big box stores. Sorry but they are a bloody fortune at those nurseries and nice and cheep at Home Depot. Of course the nursery ones are much larger but I like to buy the small ones at HD and let them grow. Much easier to plant and they do grow quickly. I can't tell you how many of the trees and shrubs here are from big box stores like Home Depot, Walmart and Lowes. Lots and lots and lots of them.
Not that I don't buy from the local nurseries. Believe me those have gotten plenty of my money also.
Well, that is great to know. I " assumed" they would be lesser quality. With a perennial, like a coneflower, I figure it does not matter, as they don't live that long. The azaleas were $4, but only 8-10" tall, not including the pot.
The azaleas at Home Depot often follow me home! The size sounds about right. Mine were small when I bought them.
I saw my first hummingbird of the season while I was out planting some of my tomatoes today. Any my catbirds are back today also from wherever they go for the winter. I was happy to see them. They usually nest in my yard so here is hoping the Catbirds pick here is nest again this year.
About the dutch iris. Are they the same as what I call Iris reticulata? My one clump of blues bloomed at the same time as crocus. Do different varieties bloom at different times like daylilies do? This one is pretty!
I saw my first humingbird yesterday too. I also had a papa and baby rosy breasted grosbeak on my feeder yesterday. That is a first. Have never had them before.
bb, no Iris reticulata are not the same as DUTCH IRIS. I don't have any Iris reticulata although I do plan on buying some for this fall. But dutch iris are bulbs, look like onion sets to me.
Cindy. I love to watch the birds here in my yard. I always try to attract more and different types.
