Beautiful Rita as usual. I liked the blackberry blossoms so
much I bought one named Navaho. Hope it's a good one.
Thanks Rita.

Shirlee, Navaho is another in the series of erect thornless blackberries named after Indian Tribes, I have both Apache and Araphajo ones. The blooms are pretty and the berries are yummy. Best of all no nasty blackberry thorns.

I owe it all to you Rita for telling me about the erect thornless ones. Gonna
make some jam for my kids when they bear fruit someday. Navaho is the
only one they had available.

Just catching up!

Love the pink rose with the blue sib iris. I love it when plants intermingle.

About the lupine.

I asked my wholesale grower why they haven't been available lately, since I love them.

Apparently the Russell hybrid strain got a virus which infected the seeds. Sometimes they would grow and just die. I mentioned that they are short lived perennials anyway, and she stated that that was not the problem, that the virus infection was. They have been trying to start a new strain based on the RH that are virus free but it might be awhile before they are available in the market again.

Yet, there is a stance of them about 4 miles from me of mixed colors (not with white). They grow their plants from seed. Probably from their own seed. So I am thinking of asking for some seed from theirs to get them started here again.

Next problem with them has something to do with humidity. But since 'we' are on the ocean, that didn't make sense to me. ???

The lupines are just finicky about where they grow. And I hadn't heard that about the seeds. Plants here are planted so closely together that it is quite common for them to be snuggling up to each other.

Shirlee, I am sure you will really enloy the thornless blackberries. I love mine. They do require some prunning but nothing like the work to maintain the running types.

Oh yes, that does help. We are in a very dry period here, and I
so want some of your rain, but it helps to see how beautiful your garden
looks. Once when we were in a few years drought, we traveled north
and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the green. Made me feel more alive.

Love the roses! Hurray! Hurray! How big is your yard again? Do you have any grass left? Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing It looks like you have every square inch that is not needed to walk on planted.

Grass? What grass? Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Seriously, I do have grass paths and some grass around the beds at the north side of the house. I will have to take a long view picture so you can see the effect. I really don't have a big property, pretty much average surburban lot around here. What makes it all work is that my garden is multi-level which means lots more can be crammed in than would ever fit in a level lot. Green Grin!

Definitely a case of making lemonade with lemons. You turned what some would have seen as a fault/hardship into a great feature.

Ok, this really belongs in the May thread even though it is June 1st and I took the pictures today.

First Florida weave. I started the Florida weave on my tomatoes.

And here are two views of my side yard. North side of my house where the driveway is and there is grass left. Everywhere else it is pretty much grassy paths.
