Me three! I have one hanging fire, too. I really hope it will pop before I leave town as this is it's first time blooming for me. DH is staying home, but he will never look at it, or remember to take a picture.

Don't worry as it should be open when you return. I've got phone duty at the extension service tomorrow. The agent will be out of town and I am a cheap sub. Orchid club meeting Tuesday and I will try to get that big Den nobile hybrid in the truck. Wish me luck.

rkidkelly- Cant wait to see your Phal flowers, looks like a few spikes coming up there. And your Dens. How long have you been growing orchids for?
I see you have a Paphiopedilum there with the mottled coloured leaves. I love them and have a fair few Paphs, does yours have a name tag?

They all look like they are thriving. Discovered a phal spike yesterday, I'll try to get a photo. It's unusual since all I have to do is look at a phal and it shrivels up. Grumbling

Orchids
thanks you I tip my hat to you.

Houston zone 9b...

Rule #1 Thumbs up . All plants must have tags. It didnt make much difference to me when I started out but as I got more interested I wanted to take them to shows and society meetings. You got to know what it is.
I needed more room a while back and the Noids took the hit to make the room. All has tags now.

The jenkensii is a few years old and never bloomed. Of course this year It got the winter rest and little water until I started to see some new roots and growths start. I didnt even see these until yesterday in my daily hunt for bugs :nodding:

almost need a glass to see these. I can count 10 at least

I catch lizards and toss em in to help me chase bugs. Heres one whos reading up on the tag now Sticking tongue out

Looks wonderful!! It is not easy to get that one to bloom decently! Cute Lizard!

Regarding the tags - it is always good to know what exactly you are growing and and that usually means getting your plants from reliable sources.

I'd like to second the lizard notion! I've noticed that they are great for helping keep the soft scale under control in my pool cage. Even my Blc.Chia Lin that had a terrible infestation last fall has recovered, since it has spent the winter out in the garden where the lizards can take care of it.

Also to confirm that when I am at home lavishing attention upon my orchids, they sit there and relax, but when I go away they explode! I have a new spike on my Brassavola 'Big Jim' with 4 buds, and two spikes on Gerberara Snow Ballet!Thumb of 2013-04-09/dyzzypyxxy/889b89 Thumb of 2013-04-09/dyzzypyxxy/3acfdd

I wish I could keep some Anole in the greenhouse... I think Carol's Gerberara is like the Energizer Bunny? Thumbs up

Two warm Spring Days here and the Bletillas are emerging like gangbusters. They are a LOT of them this year coming up, we should have a nice show. I am not removing the leaves completely yet, since we can still have frost.

Bree, you have a good excuse, it's getting on towards winter down there, right?

Gerberara opened a flower already today, and it is as pink as the Energizer bunny, too!

But here's your "anticipation" for tonight - we'll have pics from Apopka tomorrow night. Down side is, it's hard to take pics with your arms full of plants.
