So I hereby sheepishly admit I have been 'messing with Mother Nature' just a tiny bit here. I bought some 'Keiki Grow Plus' and applied it not only to my favorite Phal stems once the flowers were gone, but also thought to give it a try on the stems of my various Phaius that bloomed this spring. Well! I have 3 or 4 tiny keikis starting on the Phals, but every single stem joint that I applied the stuff to on the Phaius has a good sized keiki started.
I'm excited, can you tell??
Now, anyone have any experience here? Do I wait until they show roots, as I will with the Phals, or cut the stems and lay them on sphagnum, which is the accepted method for propagating Phaius? Guess I have enough of them, I could try both methods and see what works, but any advice or opinions are appreciated.

Cymbidium slowely getting there.
Wonder how i can get the buds to grow apart? I moved it and a bud started growing backward so i moved it back and it went back to how it was

On the cym, Bree, I guess the buds want to point towards the light? The local grower, Charlie Chapman, that I got mine from told me that he waters them twice as much when the flower stems appear to get the stem to lengthen.
I forgot to do that this spring, and my Cym. Kenny Wine had a very short stem with flowers bunched together. Last year it had a much longer, nicer stem of flowers.
Last year, when he grew it to bloom stage, this year when I neglected to water it enough. Lots of flowers, but the stem was half the length.

Who says it's tough to get catts to re-bloom? This big guy has at least 4 nice new sheaths coming along, despite a brush with the dreaded scale!
I'm giving credit to the magnesium treatment. Thanks again, Ursula for that timely tip! All my catts, and everything else for that matter, are looking so much better since I added some epsom salts to the mist regimen.

No idea what this one will look like, it has an almost obliterated tag I think says Ctna. Maui Maid x C. Intermedia alba. I love surprises. The grower who personally (!!) delivered my B. 'Big Jim' last year left this one as a birthday bonus. It had one almost spent bloom. We shall see, soon!

I do have a lot of little 'chids, and they tend to take a nosedive off the wire racks when they get unbalanced. Orchids don't ever grow straight, do they! The pot rack solved that problem nicely.

Anything more provocative than a big, fat, cattleya bud starting to break out?
This is a huge NOID plant that had a small case of scale a few months ago so it's living in the quarantine area. Everything out there seems to be doing really well!

Oh, my, I have good anticipation and bad anticipation to report. First the good, my David Sander definitely has a bud!! At the same time, B. 'Big Jim' is also getting ready to pop 4 blooms and Lc. Renate has 3 big new spikes. My cup runneth over.
On the bad side, the black plague is definitely floating around out there. New growths on 3 of my big Catts have had to be amputated today Anticipating this will not end any time soon . . .
