[ Splendid Cymbidium (Cymbidium insigne 'Manote') | Posted on July 26, 2020 ]

This selection of the species is one of the few that hybridiser Andy Easton has found will grow in Colombia when most of the better forms grow poorly or die. It has somewhat broader foliage than most examples of insigne but appears to be genuine. It also has a very tall (almost 6' in height), self-supporting spike!

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Garden Music 'Nado') | Posted on July 26, 2020 ]

Named for Nado Lenkic, who provided the hybridiser (Andy Easton) with the pollen from Balkis 'Captain Anderson' required for the cross.

[ Orchid (Cattleya Malini) | Posted on July 23, 2020 ]

Named for the hybridiser's niece.

[ Orchid (Bromecanthe Garnet Glory) | Posted on July 11, 2020 ]

This is the cross of Orchid (Guaritonia Why Not) X Orchid (Myrmecophila thomsoniana).

[ Orchid (Grammatocymbidium Pakkret Garuda) | Posted on July 10, 2020 ]

This is an intergeneric hybrid of Orchid (Cymbidium Lilliput) X Bell Orchid (Grammatophyllum scriptum). Cym. Lilliput itself is a primary hybrid, so this is 25% Cym. ensifolium, 25% Cym. lowianum and 50% Gramm. scriptum.

[ Orchid (Rhyncattleanthe Solar Flare 'Paradise') | Posted on June 28, 2020 ]

The flowers start out a rich yellow and fade over several days to a cream colour with the yellow flares.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Nightrider') | Posted on June 23, 2020 ]

There seems to be some confusion between 'Nightrider' and Lily (Lilium 'Night Flyer'). It is important to note that 'Nightrider' is generally up-facing with about 6 flowers, where as 'Night Flyer' is out to down facing with 15 to 25 flowers.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Pearl 'Magnificum') | Posted on May 23, 2020 ]

This is a counted diploid.

[ The Maguan Cymbidium (Cymbidium maguanense) | Posted on May 6, 2020 ]

Originally described in the late 90s from a cultivated plant, this species or natural hybrid was merged into Master's Cymbidium (Cymbidium mastersii) from 2016-2020. During this period, hybridiser Andy Easton still considered it a natural hybrid comprised of Ivory-Colored Cymbidium (Cymbidium eburneum) and mastersii, whilst IOSPE maintained a separate entry for it due to the differences between it and mastersii.

A study published in early 2020 (DOI: 10.1080/23802359.2020.1730262) showed that it was intermediate between eburneum and mastersii (and more closely affiliated with eburneum). This resulted in its separate species status being restored as of 6th April 2020. Further research will be required to demonstrate whether it is synonymous with Orchid (Cymbidium x ballianum).

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Yin-Chee) | Posted on May 1, 2020 ]

This grex predates Orchid (Cymbidium Summer Aroma) but is closely related, as they are registered with different subspecies of Cym. bicolor.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium erythrostylum 'Tokyo Fantasy') | Posted on April 28, 2020 ]

This plant has been selfed and some of these selfings have been made available in Australia.

[ Moth Orchid (Phalaenopsis 'Fuller's Black Leopard') | Posted on April 7, 2020 ]

This is not a registered grex and appears to be a single clone marketed under a trade name.

[ Orchid (Oncidium Samares 'Hamlet') | Posted on April 4, 2020 ]

This is a known tetraploid (4N) alba carrier.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Frank Caprio) | Posted on April 4, 2020 ]

Another hybrid from Andy Easton of New Horizon Orchids. It has some warmth tolerance and flowers with two spikes on a bulb. The spikes are reported to cut and last well.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Jocelyn Brooke 'New Horizon') | Posted on April 4, 2020 ]

The hybridiser, Andy Easton, noted that this particular plant is a good example of an interesting colour-changing phenomenon. He reports that when flowered in California, it is an emerald green, but in Colombia, it is a shade of yellow (as per photo).

[ Orchid (Grammatocymbidium Pakkret Gargoyle) | Posted on April 3, 2020 ]

This is the hybrid of Orchid (Cymbidium Valerie Absolonova) X Bell Orchid (Grammatophyllum scriptum). The original cross was made by Pakkret Floriculture and used the 4N Orchid (Cymbidium Valerie Absolonova 'Salinas Sunset') with a 2N dwarf form of Gram. scriptum.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Valley Champion 'Superstar') | Posted on March 23, 2020 ]

This is the mutated form of Orchid (Cymbidium Valley Champion 'Prolific').

[ Orchid (Cymbidium 'Retiro Red') | Posted on March 6, 2020 ]

This plant was hybridised by Andy Easton of New Horizon Orchids and is only available under its trade name. The parentage is only partially known at this time, as the pollen parent is also only known by its trade name of 'Spaceflor'.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Miss Muffet 'Agate') | Posted on March 5, 2020 ]

This clone is a tetraploid example of the grex.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium New Century) | Posted on March 1, 2020 ]

This hybrid was originally made by Susumu Furuya of Mukoyama Orchids, who used the regular diploid form of Sarah Jean 'Ice Cascade' and the diploid Alexanderi 'Fine'. Andy Easton of NHO also remade the cross several years later with the exact same parents. He reports that due to Sarah Jean's tendency to produce unreduced gametes, the majority of the New Century plants were triploid (despite both parents being diploids).

A number of selections are still in circulation in Australia and are displayed at shows on a regular basis.
