[ Orchid (Cymbidium Sweet) | Posted on February 28, 2020 ]

This grex was described as pink and white miniatures to intermediates.

[ Thaumatophyllum | Posted on February 23, 2020 ]

This genus was originally described in 1859 with a single type species (Thaumatophyllum spruceanum), but was later merged into Philodendrons (Philodendron). In 2018 the genus was resurrected and a number of Philodendron species were moved into it.

[ Ivory-Colored Cymbidium (Cymbidium eburneum 'Royale 3 Flowers') | Posted on February 20, 2020 ]

This is a known diploid (2N).

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Lois Kelly 'Atlantis') | Posted on February 16, 2020 ]

This clone is a tetraploid (4N).

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Girrahween 'Enid') | Posted on February 16, 2020 ]

This was the first Cymbidium in Australia to receive an FCC. Unfortunately it is an aneuploid (a chromosome count of 76 was reported by Wells 1956, 4 short of the 80 in a tetraploid) and did not readily breed. The Flamenco used was reported to be a cross between a 4N and 5N. Somehow this was successfully crossed with lowianum and produced Girrahween 'Enid'.

[ Ivory-Colored Cymbidium (Cymbidium eburneum 'Chuenchob') | Posted on February 16, 2020 ]

One of two seedlings from Royale Orchids' eburneum line that were purchased and flowered by Orchids on Newbold (the other being Ivory-Colored Cymbidium (Cymbidium eburneum 'Tetra Royal 2')). This one was cloned and made available for purchase in the 2017 OON catalogue.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Kusuda Shining 'Bullseye') | Posted on February 15, 2020 ]

This was one of a number of seedlings raised from a sibling cross of two Kusuda Shining plants (looking for albas, as the original Kusuda Shining seedlings were all alba carriers courtesy of Golden Elf). This one was flowered by Atlantis Orchids in Australia and whilst not an alba, its striking colouration meant it was selected and named 'Bullseye' due to it being yellow with a red centre.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Kusuda Shining 'Geyserland') | Posted on February 15, 2020 ]

This is one of the more well-known Kusuda Shining selections and is a known alba carrier.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Vogelsang 'Eastbourne') | Posted on February 15, 2020 ]

This clone exists as both 2N and 4N versions. The 4N form was reportedly made in Australia.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Dorothy Stockstill 'Forgotten Fruit') | Posted on February 5, 2020 ]

This is a known triploid (3N; made using a diploid Phar Lap and tetraploid Miss Muffet) and reluctant to set seed. There appears to be a hexaploid (6N) mutation of it in existence, but it is hard to find.

The correct spelling of the clonal name is 'Forgotten Fruit', but it has been awarded as 'Forgotten Fruits' and eventually 'Forbidden Fruit'!

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Pywacket) | Posted on February 4, 2020 ]

This grex was made as diploids using Orchid (Cymbidium Tethys 'Black Magic').

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Tethys 'New Horizon') | Posted on February 4, 2020 ]

This tetraploid is the result of a selfing of the diploid form of Orchid (Cymbidium Tethys 'Carrot Top') which was then treated with colchicine.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium Tethys 'Black Magic') | Posted on February 4, 2020 ]

This is a diploid and as far as I am aware, was the parent used in making Orchid (Cymbidium Canned Magic) and the triploid Orchid (Cymbidium Rocky Creek). It has been used several times by Andy Easton in his breeding lines and holds the potential for spots when appropriately partnered.

[ Orchid (Brassolaelia Joanne Singer) | Posted on February 2, 2020 ]

Around 2016 Florida SunCoast Orchids remade this grex in reverse order, using the alba form of Flor de la Concepcion (Laelia rubescens) and Orchid (Brassavola subulifolia 'Chuck Muller'). Seedlings were offerred for sale in 2019 under the name of SunCoast White Stars Group.

[ Orchid (Cymbidium tracyanum 'Woodside') | Posted on January 30, 2020 ]

This is one of the few alba forms in circulation. It appears to be a diploid plant.

The photos kindly provided by A'na Sa'tara are of her division of the plant, grown and photographed by her for her website (An Essence of Orchids).

[ Orchid (Lycaste Imschootiana) | Posted on January 27, 2020 ]

This is the man-made version of the natural hybrid Orchid (Lycaste x imschootiana).

[ Orchid (Rhynchomyrmeleya SunCoast Love) | Posted on January 19, 2020 ]

This is a cross between Orchid (Rhyncholaeliocattleya Waianae Leopard) and Orchid (Myrmecophila christinae).

[ Orchid (Cymbidium lowianum var. ailaoense) | Posted on January 15, 2020 ]

This is a recently (2005) discovered variety of the species found on Ailao Mountain, Yunnan, China. According to the published research, the key difference between this variety and the type is that the bracts are linear and lanceolate, ranging in length from 1 to 2.2cm.

[ Orchid (Cattlianthe Hatillana) | Posted on December 23, 2019 ]

This is the hybrid of Orchid (Cattlianthe Tutankamen) and Orchid (Cattleya Okarche).

[ Lily (Lilium 'Grenadier [Kline]') | Posted on December 19, 2019 ]

Not to be confused with the earlier hybrid Lily (Lilium 'Grenadier [Chandler]') (a short red-orange Asiatic).
