DeweyRooter, I'm so weedy too.

I hope we have some warmer zones on here cause I see new scapes everyday. I think the count is close to 65 named daylilies at this point. On some plants I'm going on and cutting the scape to save energy. Does anyone know if that makes a difference for the next year blooms? I've cut 6 scapes on my big clump of Exotic Starfish and let 6 bloom. Problem is here in Eastern NC we can get a bad cold snap anytime starting in Oct but last year I was cutting scapes in Dec it was so warm but then heavy rain and into the teens in 24/36 hours.

I'm still processing as I shoot in raw format. But here's some to start.
Thumb of 2023-10-01/Vinity/6ae986
I have about 2 minutes of perfect light sometimes. In this case, as the sun comes over the house, that shades that bed, it hit, highlighting the near white daylily while everything behind it was still in shade. This is not extreme processing, it's just luck.

Thumb of 2023-10-01/Vinity/a59a8a
This one was a minute before but I'm shooting towards the field, which already has the sun. I hate I left the spent cane in there. I thought I had gotten them all. I don't like the pull them till they let go easy cause I'm afraid of an open scar especially in fall when the dreaded crown rot lurks.

Another Subhana intro in the backlight

I'm a test garden for Subhana and this is a seedling I'm really liking. Face is consistent for me for first blooms starting 5/20 to late rebloom starting 2 days ago. Subhana says it's darker for me but that is usual, I tend to have darker daylilies than the norm. Good branching, at least 36 inches tall. I hope she intros it.

Another Subhana intro, maybe '22 or '23.

Robyn, I'm not knowledgeable enough to answer your question about cutting scapes. However, I would be SO excited to have that many scapes I'm not sure I could bear to cut them. I'd want to see them bloom! Hilarious!

Small World Charles Cade on rebloom in October! And I didn't know it before, but it has a very nice fragrance!

Toby vs Godzilla has this rebloom scape, probably will open tomorrow or Tuesday, but the branching on it is so odd. There are like these four little fingers sticking out with blooms on the end. What kind of branching is that?!?!

It hurts to cut them but when I really got into nicer daylilies I had one I got a single fan of Star bright {I think} in spring, it increased like mad, and bloomed straight till Nov, then it never recovered. I had a prolif, but it's never done well either. I always wonder if I had cut scapes it would have been stronger and made it thru the winter.

Mums are everywhere, in every store and mostly the only option. Not a huge fan, but at least they bring color.
Saw these ones in Walmart yesterday, along with some cheery scarecrows.

My petunias and calibrachoa are beginning to wind down, mostly because they no longer get much sun due to how the shadows are longer and the house now shades the pots.
I have enjoyed this combo of black star petunias with the bright calibrachoa to contrast.

I have many daylily scapes wanting to pop, but same problem - shaded in many cases by the house. Glare
Still, the ones in smaller pots I moved yesterday to where some sun still shines. Crossing Fingers!

Last bloom for Alpha and Omega, I cut the rest of the scapes. It got the dreaded rust so I cut everything down to the nubbins and have sprayed it. Only one other has it so far. I usually get rust late Oct or Nov but I don't do a lot other than cut back cause it's so late in the year. We get enough winter to kill spores.

Last bloom on that one. It doesn't open well for me most blooms.

That is a lovely combination; love some of the newer petunias and calibrachoa goes so nicely with them.

I forgot to go out and get photos of the blooms early in the day, so these are a bit bedraggled, but here are the 3 daylilies I have blooming:
