Elsa - if you want an MDB that doesn't seem to know it is suppose to be an MDB then I suggest Pokemon.

Bonnie - any special soil mix in your pots? I think that Dragonet, Boink and Tiny Beacon are languishing in the ground and really don't want to lose them. I have a few MTB's too that diminish over time in the ground. Maybe they need more summer shade.

Actually soil that you use in pots should be made to soak up water. Since they drain quickly, even when it rains for two weeks straight, they don't need a lot of sand. They are never in standing water. Then in really dry hot weather I sit them in rows along the irises in order to get soaked from the sprinklers.

You will have to weed pots as well as the regular garden beds. Glare I recommend the lightest color pots you can find. NOT the black ones. The sun will cook the roots and the iris will not thrive unless you put them in some sort of area to contain them and bury the pots in mulch. That method may keep the pots cool but it may keep the iris too moist.

Well, they will be right in there with the rest of my pot ghetto for the moment. I will get some nice decorative pots to put them in since next May the AIS Eastern Region meeting will be held in Raleigh and my garden is suppose to be on the garden tour. Got to get all the other ghetto pots into the ground this spring/summer.

Good luck with all your garden chores, Leslie. Wish I were on one of the tour buses. Smiling

This little bloom is about the size of a quarter..... maybe a little bit bigger. This is its first year in my garden. It is bright and cheerful. I received one rhizome and it has enough increases that there are six more bloom stalks on it. From earth to top of bloom about five inches. Thumbs up

And I wish you were standing beside me when the bus arrives.

Six stalks already! That is one happy tiny!

I agree with Leslie, that indeed seems like a very generous bloom for a new rhizome, so it must be very happy. Hurray!

I love yellow in spring, so I'm happy too!!!

I am so glad to have bloom stalks forming, Scott. After monsoon rains for over a month last summer with humidity never dropping out of the 90's I thought this would be a recovery year. I may not have as many bloom as in years past but I am grateful for what i do have. Smiling

I love Willott irises. Anthony Willott has been gone for a time now and Dorothy is in very declining health so there will be no more irises from them unless introduced by someone else. Sad If you grow any by the Willotts take care not to lose them. Smiling

Bonnie, hoping for a good season for you despite the wet weather. I love the sun photos of Drambuie... show off the great copper/brown color. At our club's sale last year, I picked up Willott's IB 'Exotic Artistry'. I hope it blooms true to name.
