Another pretty purpurata. There must be hundreds of them and they are all nice. I like the Miltassia as well.

I got yet another L.purp variety yesterday - the tag says L. purpurata 'Rio' so I'll be curious to see what it looks like. There was a fellow there yesterday picking through to find all the L. purps and he even had two that were in bloom! Mine is pretty small, so I'd imagine no flowers until next summer. The orphanage also had that Miltassia Sheilob - very pretty, Lindsay. I hovered over it and another Mtssa (can't remember which one it was) for a while, but chickened out. I really want that beautiful red one 'Aztec Toni' like Jim's. Not sure I have a location shady enough for it, but hmmm, I suppose I could make one . . . !

If I have any grocery money left over this week, I think I'm going back for a couple of Zygonisia cynosure "Blue Birds" though. They have several nice size ones for $10 each.

Ursula, does that explain the size of your haul? nodding

Just opening today is an orchid I purchased when I visited Fender's closing sale in Venice with Elaine. I didn't know a thing about this orchid but the linage looked terrific. This is Blc. Chia Lin 'New City' X Pot. Susan Fender 'Cinnamon Stick', AM/AOS. Besides, the plant was large and in good health.

Elaine, I have 70 some Paphs. and have only see 12 of those bloom and probably only 6 of those are rebloomers. Except for my old reliable NOID it takes a minimum of 2 years to reblooom for the repeaters. I suspect you will have much better luck with your paphs.

Lindsey, the L. purpurata is lovely and your Miltassia Sheilob is an interesting specimen.

Jim, a bevy of beauties. I have an old Epi. Radicans with some stems 7 feet long, all wound around but it has never bloomed and is about to find a home in the compost pile.

Miltoniopsis Andrea West 'Wild Wild West', smells like rhubarb.

Glad to see someone is blooming nice Miltonias. Mine die immediately so I have given up on them. Nice Peggy Ruth. Mine bloomed a couple of months ago. She is a great orchid. I have pretty well given up on Paphs because of the long wait between blooms. I'd rather have a Vanda blooming two or three times a year than a Paph but I do enjoy seeing them at shows or via pictures on our blog. Choclate Drop is a classic. Good growing, Ken.

I have Paphs that bloom every year on time and because there large plants i usually get a few flowers on the same plant. I think if there not happy they might not bloom (like any orchids) but if there in the right conditions they'll bloom (like any orchid).
This ones a easy one for me to grow and blooms every year as winter starts. Leeanum...Thumb of 2012-06-11/bree/4d9c8f

I like the Blc. Chia Lin 'New City' X Pot. Susan Fender 'Cinnamon Stick' very much! It has to be fragrant too...? The Apopka Phal has a nice pattern.
Ken, very pretty.
Your Miltonia looks and sounds beautiful. I do such a poor job with them. Beautiful Miltonidium Bartley Schwarz!

Lovely Paphs, Ken and Bree. Simply amazing. Only 12 out of 70 bloom for you, Ken?

Jim, I was looking at Fender's photo stream on Flickr and found this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/f...

Your cross has a new name, Pot. Linda Mathisen. My little Pot. Fire in your Eyes that I got that same day is on the page, too. Can't wait.

Sorry for the repeat here, proud mother. My Den Judith Nakayama has both flowers open now.

bree,in some circles the (delanatii x moquetteanum) cross is considered Delophyllum because they do not consider moquetteanum a separate species and it is known as Paph. glaucophyllum var moquetteanum. Many of the more recent Paph. experts now consider moquetteanum a species in its own right. Lance Birk makes a special point in his book "THE PAPHIOPEDILUM GROWER'S MANUAL" to show it is a species unto its own.

I have about 5 or 6 Paphs and I get perhaps one or two to bloom in a year if I am really lucky. I do much better with Phrags.

My Rodriguezia lanceolata is blooming right now in the cage.

My Pleurothallis tribuloides is a very old plant of mine. Andy sent it along with my first order from him many many years ago. It fell off the mount after some time, but it is nowadays growing more or less horizontally on a piece of tree fern slab. It always blooms in late Spring into Summer.

Elaine, thanks for the research and link. Pot. Linda Mathisen it shall be.

Bree, wonderful slippers as always.

Ursula, great show. I especially like the Rodriguezia lanceolata. Also the Pleurothallis looks like a big healthy plant. Very nice.

Wow, lots going on here the past few days!

Jim, I love your new Blc. Chia Lin 'New City' X Pot. Susan Fender 'Cinnamon Stick', AM/AOS...very pretty!
Ken, it's comforting to know that about your Paphs...I won't give up on them just yet! Meanwhile...that Miltoniopsis Andrea West 'Wild Wild West' is
a knockout...beautiful picture!
Ursula, I'm encouraged by your comment about Phrags being easier for you than Paphs...that makes me want to try one (at least!) I just assumed they
were fussy and difficult. I like your Rodriguezia lanceolata mounted...mine are in pots, are there different varieties ? Yours looks like it has larger/ wider
leaves... here's mine from it's last bloom

Lindsey, yes, I do remember your beautiful potted up Rodriguezia. I thought it looks gorgeous! Yes, the leaves on mine look indeed a touch wider, but the blooms have the same pretty reddish shade. Perhaps there is some variation, perhaps depending on the amount of light and water received.....?
