I had enough energy to go on a little outing yesterday. The museum we wanted to go to was closed. We went to a tiny railroad museum and then roamed around a park and public area for a little bit. This was in farm country, so we got some stuff at a fruit stand. I got some decent pictures so I was happy with the outing.

Here are some pictures.

This building was built in 1996. You read that right. The columns sound like they are made of fiberglass.

This is probably one of the sightseeing trains, maybe the one that they use for dinner trips. This railroad line is used only by the sightseeing trains, of which there is one a day, so it is safe to walk around on it in the areas that are open.

More time in the garden, but not enough. It was a PERFECT gardening day, but we had a dinner date and garden consultation and lilac pruning at our daughter's house. Came home in time for neighbourhood fireworks on the even of Canada Day. The neighbourhood ones are a very good show of about 15 minutes in a local park situated on a hill. By doing them on either June 30 or July2, they don't compete with the larger show downtown on Canada Day. Larger mobs of people too at the downtown show.

Got my beans planted and a couple of flats of plants into the ground as well as 5 Jalapeno pepper plants. Still have more bedding plants to get into the ground tomorrow and next week I'll get a load of mulch.

Too many household chores to work outside today, I went out and fed the birds, flushed the baths, watered a few pots that didn't get soaked by the rain. Then it was cleaning my bathroom, dusting, washed the floors. Yesterday I did laundry. Hopefully tomorrow I will get to do some weeding.

I went to the gym this morning. Just can't do anything outside. In this heat and humidity the only window of opportunity to work outside is in the morning. So if I spend my morning at the gym, it's game over, too hot to work outside. And if I work in the yard in the morning, I need to shower before AND after the gym. Not happening. Hilarious! On any given day, it's the gym or yard work, not both.

Karen, terrible to have to choose like that. It was a lovely day here, 76 F, nice breeze, 32% humidity, so I spent the day weeding, barely made a dent in the chickweed, it is out of control this year.. Angry

We had a wonderful Canada Day holiday. Beautiful weather and I spent most of the day in the garden and got a lot done. Feeling it today, but two yards of mulch will be dumped on the driveway later this afternoon.

Karen, I think gym OR yardwork is reasonable.

Margaret and/or Ann, what does it mean to be part of the British Commonwealth, like what are the responsibilities and benefits? What do Canadians think of the British royal family - not the people themselves but the concept? I would imagine that individual opinions are all over the map, but maybe there is a general consensus.

I did some repotting today for 40 to 45 minutes. That was as much exercise as walking.

I've wondered about that, too! How do Canadians feel about being part of the "Brittish Commonwealth" and the concept of a royal family?

We went to the gym and exercised this morning, then out to lunch to our favorite Greek place for gyros and tiropita. Then back home and I did one load of laundry and cleaned the second floor. By the time I got my shower out of the way, it was time to cook dinner. Busy day.

I have never really thought about it, Shrug! I can live with or without the royals. Shrug! Being part of the Commonwealth is supposed to make for better trading. Shrug! I bet Ann will know a lot more about it than I do. Hilarious!

I have been working really hard in the garden, always so much to do, watering, to make the weeds grow, then you have to pull them up. Glare I cleaned the large fountain today, first time since I set it up this spring and the water was still clear, and the reason was because of a tip I read, add 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar for each gallon of water. It does not harm the birds, they still drink and bathe in it. We just make sure to keep it topped up as the water evaporates, birds drinking and splashing the water out. I put some in the bird baths also today after I flushed them out, I am hoping that will keep the algae from building up..

Happy Independence Day, Everyone!

It hasn't been much of a holiday for us so far. My husband cut the grass and I cleaned the first floor, stripped the bed and washed the sheets. I have a load of towels in the dryer now.

Tonight we'll watch fireworks. Someone about half a mile away does an incredible fireworks show, and our deck is a perfect place to watch. It's honestly as good as a professional show. Plus, so many others in the neighborhood are shooting off random ones, too. Some of our neighbors will likely show up to watch, too. Our deck has the best view.

I had a blood test this morning but I am not a big baby about that now. I don't even have to have it done lying down.

I repotted plants for about and hour. I have a lot of root-bound succulents. I let things go too long.

I think opinion varies widely about the Royals. Of course Canada repatriated the constitution some time ago (1982) and the rule of Britain is just symbolic. There are people who belong to Monarchist Leagues who would probably like the British Royal family to have more influence and there are those who would like to sever the ties completely. Since we have our own constitution and rule of law is Canadian, not British, I rather enjoy visits of the royals but I don't generally go join the mobs - at least not since a visit from the Queen many years ago when we couldn't see a thing.

Thank you for the info, Ann.

I have a head cold. Normally that would just be life, but I am supposed to have sinus surgery on Friday.

I hope the cold clears up in time for your surgery.

Exercise the last few days has been aquafit on Wed. and Fri and hauling mulch the rest of the time. The mulch pile on the driveway is almost gone. I'll work on it a bit more this evening. Want to see if I can get a few end of season annuals to provide a bit more colour in one spot. Local Loblaws garden centre has already closed for the season, but several others are still open. If I'm lucky I'll find some plants on sale.

Good luck with the surgery Kelli.

We're enjoying our time with our son. Not much exercise this week.
