Thanks to all of you for posting so many great pics, garden shots and culture information. If it wasn't clear from the the pics I should add that the Hotline pics were all taken at the same time, so nice variation on each plant.

Jo Ann--In spite of all you had to go thru with last Springs topsy-tervy weather, and how most of us almost 'broke our backs' dealing with the freezes; you still put on one of the best show of lilies around! And even still, took so many nice pictures for us to enjoy. Just a fantastic job on your part!

Remember this? Morning of April 24th, in Rochester, NY

Thanks for the reminder. I am the type of person who will take someones word only so far. I am never at ease until I see formyself ,the results. Capricorn nature I guess.
I have been very happy with the blooms this year and even with the drought we are in,it hasnt been as bad as some are going thru in the midwest.
Thanks for the compliments Lorn, how did you get a pix of April in Rochester?

Jo Ann: Us weather geeks have a network of communication too; Kind of like us lily people do here, except its less conversation and a whole lot more numbers, graphs, charts that update in rapid fire every three seconds. Some have live web cams so we can actually see what the weather is like at any moment anywhere in the world. We are connected thru a membership web site called weather underground, www.wunderground.com As it turns out,,you have 15 or 20 private and commercial weather stations in the Rochester area; in fact there's one right there in Pittsford, KNYPITTS5. It updates every seconds. I see your temperature right now is 72.8, the dew point is 64.1 and humidity is 73.4. Looks like you'll get up to about 85' today and look, you have a 70% of thunderstorms tonight with up to .7 in possible, Also a good chance of rain tommarrow too--probably another half inch. Just for kicks--Down there in Rosseta, Tasmania where gwiz-Anthony lives right now its 12:16 AM, Thursday already,Cloudy, and 46.4', with a low of 39 and a high of 55'

The picture I posted was one that I captured and saved from one of the other private stations in Rochester area. KNYPITTS5 doesn't have a live web cam.And the date was actually the morning of the 23rd, not the 24th.

Ah, I remember weather underground from way back when we first had these clunky computers plopped on our desks in the '80s. It was the place to go for local forecasts. I didn't know anything about how it functioned though. Thanks for the info Lorn.

eclayne : Normaly I would wait until late August, but this year everything is 3 weeks early.
The lilies I am moving are Salmon Classic, early bloomers .
I have moved blooming lilies in order to keep a color combo and when I move lilies I always give water and feed with BulbTone fert.

There is a risk in moving lilies when they are blooming and thats is they may take a year off blooming the following season.I just wait because the colors are more important than anything.

Lorn,I have your link on my bookmark.
This is the Weather Underground I referred to above

The best sign for the time to dig is when the leaves have turned brown .

Here's a couple I haven't seen posted yet.

Thumb of 2012-07-25/Roosterlorn/69f901
Rio Negro: This one's nice as a cut flower. Kind of tall and spindly and not many leaves. Its narrow stem is real stiff and therefore doesn't need staking. (see stem and foliage of another toward the left in the picture. Dapled shade or more a must--doesn't like the heat nor intense sun.

Thumb of 2012-07-25/Roosterlorn/54e44e
Starfighter: If I had to make a choice, I'd pick this one over Stargazer any day. It just seems to be a healthier grower in the long run. It blooms about 5 or 6 days later than Stargazer. Dapled shade a must for both.

This is about it for my lily blooming season; just a couple Casa Blancas left now. Note: both flowers shown are faded a little due to the heat; they're usually much more intense.
