Very few lilies left to bloom in this hot, dry season.
'Scheherazade' is still holding up reasonably well in the scorching sun.
'Black Beauty' is a very simple yet charming lily with a light, soapy perfume that wafts in the air, especially at night.
Here is 'Miss Libby' from The Lily Garden. These bulbs were planted in mid May after being partially scaled, so I am surprised they are flowering this year. A very pretty lily with a light, sweet scent.
Here is a glorious new OT named 'Julie Fowlis'. I planted these bulbs in the middle of May, so they were forced to develop in hot, dry conditions. The resulting plants are only 18 inches tall this season with exactly 4 buds per stem, but the blooms are huge, color is a wonderful non-fading dusty rose-pink, and the perfume is strong, heady, spicy and exquisite. In fact, I think it might have one of the strongest scents among all of the OT lilies I have sampled this season. I hope it settles in well and multiplies!
Sadly, I have only 3 lilies left to flower for the rest of the season...
