What about a plain grey green stigma? It certainly isn't purple like jmorth's so that lets out Aubade and it isn't yellowish anything so can't be Devotion. I guess it will just have to be another lily with an identity crisis! Confused like Connie suggests.

Grey green sounds like it could be Tom Pouce. I just quoted colors as described in the lily register and it all can be somewhat subjective. I would say Aubade is out too. Maybe next year it will be pink if the weather is cooler.

These are Morden Butterfly and Katinka:

I have had this lankongense hybrid for seven or eight years, the longest lasting one I have grown. It is a seedling from Ed McRae who was doing some work with Chris North material. Whatever it was he did it was a great improvement over the North hybrids; they simply don't survive in my clay soil. This one is also very pleasantly fragrant!

Here is a companion lankongense hybrid from Ed McRae. No fragrance here:

I lost the label on this one, so NOID:

That Buffy has great color to it--nice example you have there. All very interesting. You've got some nice examples of Ed McRae work too. I have his book in my 'Lily Library'

All of my McRae bulbs came to me through the now defunct Pacific Northwest Lily society sales. He was always very generous giving away seeds at the meetings and he specialized in the species. I wish I could have come to know him better. He was a super nice guy.

Connie, maybe one day we could talk you into telling us a little story on lily history starting with the 'Old Oregon Bulb Farm', the relationship of Jan De Graaff and Ed McRae with the bulb farm, how it went into bankruptsy and how this all relates up to our present day breeders/growers that many are familiar with, i.e. The Lily Garden. I think you know it better than any one of us. Maybe for Christmas--maybe??

Well I reckon I can look into all that. I have enjoyed reading the stories in the old NALS bulletins and yearbooks.

So sad to see those last lilies go, isn't it. Jo Ann had us up to her house this Thursday, and it was beautiful. we were sitting on the deck, and smelling the lilies. Wonderful day.

Ha Ha- when you grow lilies, there is always excitement- and remember, theres only 365 days until next year,.,.I sold my 1st Conca D'Or bulb this year, and picked it while the woman watched on....'.My God'-she said, as i pulled out a baseball sized bulb, and she offered me more money because of the size,.[dont be silly].. theres nothing i love to see more, than the excitement on a persons face, when they walk into my backyard and realise that they can buy a potted lily blooming in front of them,.,.How many times do you think they will come back over the next years?

Very few lilies left to bloom in this hot, dry season.

'Scheherazade' is still holding up reasonably well in the scorching sun.

'Black Beauty' is a very simple yet charming lily with a light, soapy perfume that wafts in the air, especially at night.

Here is 'Miss Libby' from The Lily Garden. These bulbs were planted in mid May after being partially scaled, so I am surprised they are flowering this year. A very pretty lily with a light, sweet scent.

Here is a glorious new OT named 'Julie Fowlis'. I planted these bulbs in the middle of May, so they were forced to develop in hot, dry conditions. The resulting plants are only 18 inches tall this season with exactly 4 buds per stem, but the blooms are huge, color is a wonderful non-fading dusty rose-pink, and the perfume is strong, heady, spicy and exquisite. In fact, I think it might have one of the strongest scents among all of the OT lilies I have sampled this season. I hope it settles in well and multiplies!

Sadly, I have only 3 lilies left to flower for the rest of the season... Crying
