If you have a wheel on your mouse you can also use that. Hold down the control button and scroll the wheel.

I know everyone is quite happy with the new look, and I am not usually one to grumble.... but it still bothers me how the strip below the banner interferes with the banner picture.... but maybe that is just because it's MY banner Whistling

Ctrl + or - is a standard firefox setting to zoom/unzoom your window (it's also found on the View menu). That doesn't address the underlying issue that for a number of people, the standard display size has changed. I hate to be a stickler, but the display size needs to be correct when someone first comes into ATP. We regulars don't have a problem looking for and using work-arounds, but think of it from a brand new person's point of view.

I clicked here from a link on Google on Facebook or wherever, and while the site has this really nice crisp, clean look, it doesn't fill my monitor. First impressions matter, and that's not a good first impression.

OK, to be more precise: the home page mostly fills the monitor, and that's the actual first impression, but when you click into forums, they don't. Everything else that you click into from the top tabs (database/gardening ideas/lists, etc, including threads inside the forums) fills the screen with just that little white strip on the right, but I've clicked into the first 12 forums, and the display is consistently under-sized for the screen.

The profile page is another where the sizing is not consistent with the rest of the site.

The badges page, on the other hand, is fine

I agree There may be times when that has a definite negative impact on the picture. It should be below the banner, or mostly below instead of centered on the bottom edge of it.

Hetty, now that you've mentioned it, it's going to drive me crazy. Hilarious! I honestly hadn't noticed until you said something.

well...he could get rid of the "welcome home...", drop the Random Plant down half an inch and put the new white nav strip below the banner..

I STILL don't like all that white, and it bothers me more with passing time.

The strange this is, it's always been white. I didn't change that. Confused

I agree about the navigations strip, it should be below the banner, not covering the lower part of the banner.

I also agree with the Mary about the column down the right side.

It took me a long time to get used to all the white we have on ATP, when we moved over from Cubits. It has never been my favorite background. I too find it hard on my eyes. It is not reminiscent of gardening to see so much white. Just my way of thinking. *Blush*

I know that one! It comes in real handy, because I don't have any computer glasses, only my regular kind of glasses (which aren't super good with viewing the internet). And certain website texts aren't alway easy to see good. That trick works quickly, whereas clicking on View on my tool bar and changing the text size that way doesn't usually help immediately. DH has a serious eye disease and very compromised vision and we've learned all the tricks. He even has a very large lighted magnifying glass that he can pull over to see something better. White background doesn't bother me at all.

Just an FYI , folks, I like hearing the feedback but please don't expect that I'll be making a lot of changing during the coming week. I want us to live with it as it is for now and in a week (or two), I can (and will) make some tweaks based on the feedback I've heard.
