Had fun reviewing this thread. This time of the year, I am always reminded that I need more VL bloomers. I think I will have to try to find Pinhil Claret Symphony. Very nice!

I found several places that sell Pinhil Claret Symphony.

This is the seller that I bought mine from several years ago. I like Roycroft, they sell good plants and send good bonuses, but they usually do not have the best price. You have to pick and choose and it is best to buy when they have a sale going on.

I also bought more PCS on the LA, seller ID: Scapehunter. He lives in Connecticut. I won 3 F from him in 2009, he sent 5F. Price was $18.

This seller is one I have never bought from, but they do seem to have a selection of L and VL. They do have PCS at a cheaper price.

This seller does not have PCS, but they do live in your zone so I bet any they grow would do well for you. (You may already know about them but this is also for anyone else. Smiling

Most of my late bloomers haven't started blooming yet. Only Jo Barbre has started & I've only gotten 1 flower so far. Still waiting for blooms from Flaming Frolic, Holly Hill Reward & Double Sunset Glow. Usually DSG has the last flower to open in my garden. I will try to post pictures of all of the above once they start blooming.

I did buy some very late bloomers from Olallie last Fall but I bought the smaller fans so I doubt any will bloom this year. Hopefully next year I'll have blooms well into September! Hurray!

Anything blooming in September here is a VL, so these photos are from last year. I actually had a lot of rebloom last year, which because it is unusual for me I did not include.

Toltec Sundial (a nocturnal) - this just started blooming this year and Old Termite - which has been blooming most of the summer this year

Prairie Blue Eyes - which also just started blooming this year and After Awhile Crocodile

VT Maroon Branch which I believe is an unregistered one from Olallie? (can't remember exactly) and Sgt Major, which is another one that just started blooming here yesterday

TULLY MARS LOVE!!!

I just looked this up in the plant files, and it seems to have 2 color versions - the more rusty color shown here, and a pink with purple eye. I just moved Paper Butterfly this year, and it seems to do a similar color change. It was pink, now it is a rich peach.

Almost 90% of hybridizing is done with frozen pollen because when it is at peak everything else is done blooming.

Nice lates all!

Anything that just begins to bloom mid July is considered late for me. I am really looking for others to extend the season, so I am loving this thread!

Hakuna Matata - I bought this one specifically because it was just beginning to bloom at the daylily farm that I visited 3 weeks ago.

I was wondering if people are making a distinction between L & VL bloomers and rebloomers,. I ask because in my experience not all daylilies registered as rebloomers exhibit that behavior in every garden and it is less likely to happen the farther north a garden is located.

True. Last year was the first I had reblooms and I didn't post any of them. (We had a long gorgeous September) the only ones I posted were ones that were blooming in August/ September.

Well it's a good thing Angel's Smile decided to bloom or it might have found itself in the dogpile Rolling on the floor laughing It is a beauty! I wonder why some daylilies do that? Chinese Scholar did not bloom for me last year or this year.
