Another cross was between Illusionist X and a Pinkish seedling that Paul sent me to use.

Thanks, nothing to special, or unique though, so it didn't make the cut.

I like the Purple/Orange one. I have One: Country Picnic. But the colors are muted. I think if there are not others in that color range that are bright as yours, you should consider it for intro.

It's really pretty Tom.. Nice ruffling and the form is pleasing to me. It's a lovely combination with a killer beard.

Very nice and looks to be a clear pink. My 7-yr old grand daughter would love it too; she's a pink lover.

Tom, I like your Voltaire quote, but I don't think that is your hybridizing motto...I haven't seen pictures of any "absurdities" or "atrocities".

Tom, I'm sorry I didn't critique your seedlings. I'm no good at that since I think they're all beautiful! Thumbs up

I have shown you some of the results of this cross in the past, but here's one that I haven't shared yet.

That is really very pretty! Of all of your seedlings shown here, your Gypsy Lord cross with Can't Touch This is my favourite.

Is it good enough to pay the high intro fees? I do not know. It's gorgeous. But does it grow well? Does it bloom well? Is it disease resistant enough? Are the bloom counts worthwhile? How about branching? (Branching does not affect me usually).

The first three I mentioned would be the categories it has to fit for it to be a nice iris. Yes, it's missing colour and beauty, but I am that type of person that can like any iris even if it is bland.

Your first seedling has(d) a bloom count of 5. It's gorgeous. If it blooms well and grows well, the bloom count is something I'd not be too worried about, but, if you wait three years for a bloom and only get five buds...then I'd be more likely to rid your seedling because of the lack of "abundance" so to speak. Just some thoughts on the whole scope. I think all you have shown here looked nice, but not something extraordinary yet. You're getting closer and closer... Smiling
TB 'Starting Fresh' blooming for me in May of 2022. It bloomed for a week and a half with nine buds.

Thanks for the comment Monty. Smiling This one has excellent bud count, branching, and growth. Only problem is it's such a common color and pattern. I will try using it to see if I can bring it's good qualities to some more unique colors.

I crossed Art House onto my Purple "accidental" seedling. I've shown you a couple in the past.

This is from a cross made in 2013. Some have taken a long time to bloom due to weather and "rabbit" damage.

It kept a lot of the characteristics of Art House. Not sure about this one. The parents have more pizzazz.

That happens a lot I've noticed. I numbered it and thought I'd save it, but then I ended up not keeping it for that reason.
