Roasted tomatoes for dinner tonight on the grill with a nice steak. I picked some nice Vivia Italia tomatoes and put them on the grill, turning every so often till they were nice and soft. Yummy! Thumbs up

I picked three small cucumbers today and that is it. The last of them and they are done for sure. I will be pulling them out shortly. Can't complain. Cucumbers did really well this year.

Picked lots and lots and lots of tomatoes today. Can't believe they are still coming so well this late in the year. Gave two nice sized bags of tomatoes away to two different neighbors. And I have a much bigger bag still for myself of tomatoes.

I pulled out all the ratty cucumber vines today and was surprised that I found a bunch of cucumbers still to pick along in the ratty vines. I had picked cucumbers yesterday and figgured that was the last of them. But today this is truely the last of them because all the vines are out and even the roots are pulled. Really this is the latest that the cucumbers have ever made it. Usually they die off long before mid September. Bagged them up for the garbage instead of composting them due to finding cucumber beetle larva. Don't want to help any cucumber beetles to survive to the next generation!

I have spotted cucumber beetles eating my string bean plants. Thumbs down

Just now starting to get cushaws to eat, so I hope the first frost stays away for a bit longer.

They're hard to squish too...they fall off the plant before you can nab 'em, and then they end up under all the leaves and stuff. I guess I should have left these plants covered a bit longer.

Picked tomatoes again today. Here it is end of September and I am still picking tomatoes. Thumbs up What a great tomato year it has been here.

Picked SUPERFANTASTIC and BETTER BUSH plus more VIVIA ITALIAs. Then I picked lots and lots and lots of JULIETs. Those things never stop cranking out tons of fruit.

We had some frost about a week ago that damaged some squash leaves, but so far everything is still producing. Lots of tomatoes here, too.

The pods on the yard long beans that I'm growing out for seed collection are sooooo long!!!! Hilarious!

The golden edible-pod peas are the best I've ever tasted! Thumbs up

I ordered more sugar snap peas. I got Super Sugar Snap and I already have Cascadia and something else left over from last fall. Plan to plant peas early this spring. I have seeds for cucumbers so thinking I don't need those but do need to get my yard long beans for this year. No real big hurry on them, can't plant till it warms up. Peas have to be planted early though, they are a cool season crop.

And so begins the veggie crazies for another year. Rolling on the floor laughing

I have had terrible germination on the Super Sugar Snap peas. Dwarf Gray do much better and can eat pods or full peas so I guess I'll just plant more of those. Ashe thing with Oregon. Got both from Johnny's.

I started some in soil blocks but we got so much rain I couldn't get them planted yet. Hopefully by the end of this week.

I have some plain shelling green peas to plant also and maybe some snow peas. But the Sugar Snap types are my favorite peas. I can never get enough of those so plan on planting plenty. The plan is to get the peas planted early but not so early that they will not sprout.

Not going to be doing anything in the garden, veggie or flower garden. Ended up with snow overnight so now I have to wait for it to melt and the ground to dry some before I can even think about planting my spring peas. It is supposed to rain at least two days next week so the ground will not be dry soon.

Thumbs down Sorry to hear.

We had a couple of beautiful days so my son was able to till one row in the garden for my lettuce. Letting it set one day, I'll rake it tomorrow then till again, then finally I can plant my lettuce. Thumbs up

I was weeding the strawberries today and spotted some blossoms too! Can't wait for fresh strawberries!

Snow on the ground here melting today because it is fairly warm. Supposed to hit 50. We got about 6 inches of snow overnight Thursday night into Friday morning. Last night on the local Long Island Weathernews I heard that southern Long Island only got about 2 inches while mid suffolk county and out east got about 5 onches. Further into the city not much, maybe the 2 inches. But northern Nassau County, which is where I am they reported 8 inches of snow. At least it is sunny and it should melt quickly.

Today I finally got my broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower planted outside. It is a virgin bed so I'm not sure how it will do there and how badly the Bermuda grass will be but I am hoping it will be fine. I still need to get my "pre-sprouted peas in. Tomorrow.
