Beefmasters and Big Boy (second picture) tomatoes I picked today. No real giant ones like the other day in this first picture.

Here are a few other Beefmasters. I did weigh the bigger one. 1 pound 7 ounces. I could tell by looking at it that it wasn't as big as that super sized one I had the other day but still a very good size. Unfortunatly it has a bad spot from where it started to crack and has moulded up top at the center. I will cut it up later and eat the good parts.

I had a great salad from the garden today, too! Hurray!

Mixed lettuces, young dandelion greens, peppercress, oregano, chocolate mint, purple basil, dill weed, cucumber and a lovely Black Krim tomato. Yum!

While I was out chopping and pulling weeds in the veggie patch, I was pleased to be able to witness a White-lined Sphinx Hummingbird Moth take its first flight. It was just emerging from a clump of tall grass I needed to cut.

Fortunately, I had my camera with me. Smiling

Here, its wings are going a mile a minute as it dries them, preparing for takeoff.

I got two of these pictures before it flew.

I tracked its flight and its landing spot and got this pretty picture too.

Then, I found a pair of mantis in the daisies.

Here's big momma mantis.

Great pictures! You had great timing on this one. nodding

My salad was just tomato, cucumber and onion with some sour cream for dressing. Raining here now so I can't go out and pull weeds.

Yesterday I didn't want anything hot for dinner so I made a pasta salad that had Corno di Toro peppers, broccoli, Sweet 100 and Sungold cherry tomatoes and onion from the garden in it. We'll be having it again tonight. I made a lot. Smiling

How do you like those peppers? Are they sweet, or hot?

Chelle, Such luck to see that happen, and to have your camera when it does. Really great pictures. Thanks for sharing them.

Arrg, some of my sweet corn was munched by mice last night so I turned off the electric fence around the veggie garden and dropped the cat in. He came out with just 1 mouse. I hope he got more when he was in there. I'll be dropping him in tomorrow too. Right now he just wants to nap inside the house. And we don't let him outside at night.
Mice are one varmint that can get in under the electric fence.

Anyway, here's some more Bodacious corn out of that garden and some Corno di Toror sweet peppers out of the pepper garden.

Well, when I looked at it I wanted corn for dinner right away. Mine will be coming from the store as I don't grow corn.

Should I tell you that it probably tastes better than anything from the store? Smiling
This is a really really good tasting variety. And it's usually eaten a few minutes after being picked.

I would never DARE grow corn. The racoons would be happy and I would never get any. I always buy from the store so don't know any better. But I have read that fresh from the garden is so much better.
