Charles de Mills.
The color never photographs well for me.
It has more purple tones than it shows here.

We had runners; they always made me think of bowling pins. Ours were quite comical.
They look so cute staying together in a big group.

They are indeed very comical to watch. They move as one entity and seem to be in perpetual motion. Their shape is suppose to be like a "wine bottle" according to the standard.
If anybody has seen the movie "Babe the Pig" the white duck (Ferdinand) that tries to be a rooster is a white Runner Duck. They come in several different colors.

It really is very pretty.
I had no idea it had peach & orange tones.

I'm hoping they don't lay many eggs. From what I've read they don't. I'm wanting to keep them to help with the garden insect situation. And for entertainment. I got Buff Brahmas as all I read said they were light egg layers. Well mine are egg laying machines! I'm hoping the runner duck live up their billing! Hilarious!

Terri, I've heard they do lay alot of eggs but they don't go broody.
Blue colored Runners lay blue eggs too!
The black might too.
I'm sure they will help control your bugs.
I noticed after getting Muscovies how well the keep the flies and mosquitoes down.
If you get some I recommend Dave Holderread in Oregon.
He has very good quality.
Much better than hatchery stock.
http://www.holderreadfarm.com/
I'm going to get his deluxe variety Runners next year
whick includes some rare colors.

Alan...follow your impulses! Thumbs up
