Looks like the dead Inky fingers is showing some signs of life. Maybe I caught it just in time. Ric's cuttings in the GH are looking pretty good, too.

I took a couple of trays of cuttings which have rooted and are doing OK. I think the ones I did last year had some kind of disease, though I have no idea what. They just looked sickly and I ended up trashing them. I hope I do better with this year's batch.

I have been propagating my coleus from cuttings every fall for several years, and they always did well until last year. Shrug!

I have been walking the streets of the island and knocking on people's doors and asking for a cutting if I see any coleus I haven't got. I have planted another 13 cuttings in the last week. They can be straggly and dry and half eaten at this time of the year but usually not difficult to spot.
This has been fun but it suddenly dawned on me that I still have to find a place for them somewhere in the garden.
I will post pictures as the cuttings strike.

Some of the cuttings are taking. The grasshoppers are happy about this.

I have a couple of native Plectranthus. My new cuttings are just taking for Plectranthus argentatus. It has thick grey green leaves and light blue flowers. There are lots of forms of this plant marketed with different names (Silver Spurflower, Silver Shield). These are from native scrub nearby. This one grows to 5 feet with nice thick stems.

The one we keep taking cuttings from is 4 years old.
DD pinched it from the front of a restaurant planting. The leaves have the cream edge.

Heater didn't come on in the GH the other night. Not sure why the heater is working either the thermostat got bumped back a bit or it is not working properly. Temps went down to 41 and there was some damage to the begonias and cutting. Most of the plants have some damage may have lost all the coleus cuttings.

We had talked about getting a low temp alarm for the GH but never did get around to getting one. Ric usually checks it each night but for some reason didn't check temp reader that night. Lucky we have been having these warmer temp or we would have lost the whole GH.
