There are so many sunflowers out there now. In all sizes and colors. They are such cheerful blooms.
I love planting them just for the finches to harvest.
Good idea. I plant mine in the ground, but it sure wouldn't hurt to put a gallon milk jug over them while they get started. We never had problems until the last 3 years, when a squirrel moved in.
I have never had problems with our resident deer, but the squirrel, that is another story. I call him Bill, as in the movie 'Kill Bill'. Never saw the movie, but I remember hearing about it.
I tend to do the same thing in the few containers that I have. It's one less thing for me to think about with all the other garden chores that are necessary. Too many gardens for me to keep up with at my age.
Can't find the ones with the Caladiums and Lilies mixed, or the Brazilian Plume Flower, or all the other tropicals. I just cut them down and then put them into the garage, so they're usually the same each year.
It's a Pink Pendulus Begonia. I put about 5 of them in that pot. The pot is large but the bulbs for the hanging begonia are smaller than the regular ones, so 5 fit.
Every time this thread pops up I am reminded I havnt finished my container plans for 2013.
I want to add begonias and will definitely increase the numbers per pot. I will be using BonFire a red pendulant I used last year.
