Emeril is on HSN and I just bought the wok he was showing. Really, really nice for those stir frys. Going to be much better than my old fry pan that I usually use.

the trick to using a wok is constant stirring action & don't be afraid to use oil!! I don't use veggie oil, I use peanut, olive, or canola oil exclusively. Depends on what I'm making will depend on what oil I use. Get you some wooden spoons.. that's the BEST thing to use on a wok. I don't like using metal utensils on my wok, I don't want it scratched up. Also, you have to use thin cuts of whatever for the best cooking, and on a low heat at all times. you never want to try & cook something thick in a wok.. it's a lot of work.

Yesterday morning went to the dogpark. Was about 35degs, so not too terribly cold. However, figured out that that's cold enough to aggravate my sciatica. So if I go out & it's cold, I have to warm up immediately. Warmed up my leg, DH gave me a deep massage to control the twitchies, and then went to the gym. Did 15 minutes on the elliptical & 15 minutes on the treadmill. Went very easy on both.. the treadmill was only at 2mph & at a 2% incline. But considering how long it's been, I thought I did pretty good!

Slow and steady is best. Moderate exercise is probably better for us than trying to become an exercise nut. Hilarious!

Daffoldils starting to come up in my garden even though it is very early for that to be happening. I think it is because the fall and winter have been generally very mild this year. Cold snap coming though. Yeck, I hate the cold.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Just got a message from HSN saying my wok shipped. I am looking forward to using it to. I stir fry much more in the summer than in winter. But I want to try and make my own str fried rice. I usually just buy it at the chinese takeout.

I really need the exercising. Need to loose weight and gain streangth.

I did 40 minutes on the Gizelle and then the using the stepper after that.

ACK!!! I just found some buds on some of my Rjenveld's Early Sensation daffodils. So early! Of course those buds are no where near ready to bloom yet and now it has gotten so cold.

Hi there - thought I'd check in here as well Hurray!

It's been a mild winter so far - hope it stays that way, I didn't cover up a single rose this fall. Hope they'll live. 38°F this morning and a bit breezy.

I lost a few roses two years ago when my greenhouse almost took off - about 6 panes were blown out, and it took me a few weeks to get it patched up again. All the roses I had in pots in there died as well as Whisky Mac which was in the ground. I'm still mourning .... Not sure I'll replace all of them though, but there are a few that I would like to give a second chance, Mozart and Westerland for instance.

Like I mentioned in my moss rose thread I'm moving this spring, starting over in a new garden. It'll be difficult to leave the old one behind - but I'm taking most of my treasures with me. Big Grin It's going to be soooo much work, but designing a garden is soooo much fun. And this one is a completely empty canvas - just grass, trees and weeds. Blinking Whistling

Rannveig - Empty canvases are the best! That way, you can envision what you want and then watch it take off! When I bought my house in '05, I bought it for 2 reasons: the neighborhood (older, single family homes, no HOA, kids playing street-hockey in the cul-de-sac type place) and the huge dead yard in the back. I knew that the yard was going to be a MAJOR piece of work, and it has... it has! But, it is slowly getting to what I envisioned years ago, just takes time.

Make sure you take pictures of the yard BEFORE you start working it - kind of show your progress. I regret not taking that many pictures of my yard before.

So nice to see you posting here! I just did the move thing 2 years ago and took LOTS of plants with me but still mourn the ones I left behind as the new owners are not gardeners. Crying
But this new garden has been a joy to watch grow, more room now for larger plants. I still have over 250 plants in pots waiting to get planted, slow and steady will eventually get it done. Thumbs up

Sue - oh it's so hard to leave them behind..... I'm will have to leave some of the plants behind, but it'll be rough. I will ask the new owners to contact me if they want to get rid of some plants instead of throwing them away..... It's at least good that you have more space. I would have hated to move to a smaller garden ..... Whistling

Here's a sneak peak at the empty canvas Blinking
