I love Golden Jubilee and the horse mint, Tee!
I've been seriously looking at both and those that Sue has.
Scrumptious!

I agree, Golden Jubilee has turned out to be a stunner, IMHO. The foliage is gorgeous. Such a fresh-looking green. I love the horse mint as well. And that one of Sue's is scrumptious indeed. I'm sure I will need it for my garden this year too. Smiling
I garden for the pollinators.

Sherry, my zone 9 and your zone 9 Confused interesting question. The Northern part of California, San Jose area and North I don't think is in zone 9. I know from the feedback I get from my kids when they visit their grandparents. Now South, that is an interesting question. Exactly where are you this Sunset zone is a bit difficult to make out. Thank you for the list I will do the follow up because these are not available here. What you get here are all the same size ones growing in the rubble, maybe the nursery trade has not advanced enough due to lack of exposure. There are a handful of importers because you get these seeds in bulk packing and what is a person supposed to do with a bulk packing of 5Kgs? These importers supply the demand of individual nurseries in smaller packing's. The importers are educated but the nursery owners are not and their exposure is sadly lacking. I have a net book with a wifi USB internet connection which I take along in order to increase the exposure of my nursery owner(i operate and show pictures) at least due to which he has started to ask questions from the importers mafia and the wholesalers mafia. Things are improving at least in the nurseries I frequent.
Tee, this Hyssop is a herb used for something in olden times, do you have any knowledge? An infusion or a decoction was used.
Good night Tee, it is half hour past midnight. Will keep you company during your night when I wake up Thumbs up and technically you should be fast asleep. Lynn posts her goodnight at 7AM my time and you are the only person who answers me in real time all day long Confused
Just to clear up the confusion my conversation is held over multiple threads with Tee, any one reading all those may understand but in isolation?
Regards,
Arif.

Arif, I am in Southern California zone 9 / Sunset zone 23 / subtropical. Annual rainfall here is 9"-12". My property gets no frost, but these native salvias grow in areas that do.

When I was a child, Arif, I learned to make a tea of hyssop to use as a cough suppressant. It also helps alleviate congestion from a cold. Tastes horribly bitter, but smells good as a tea.

Seems like it's also antiseptic. Somewhere floating around in cyberland, should be an old article of mine about it.

Pineapple Sage grows very thick and lush, with the most amazing red blooms. The humming birds fight over it. I'll have to put in several plants in different locations this year so they don't keep chasing each other off. Just walking by this one fill your sense with the scent of pineapple. What a great plant.

Salvia 'Black and Blue', another one that make a wonderful dense foliage plant. It bloomed all summer and stayed through 3 winters. Lost it when the house painters trampled it during the summer. Sad Time to get another one.

I can't find my photo of S. 'Hot Lips'. I loved that salvia, wasn't as tall as the Pineapple Sage and Black and Blue.

I think a nice new forum for agastaches and salvias would be a good addition! I don't have a lot of either, but I have been playing around with them.

I agree Wonder when we will get a Forum?
I think we have about 9 people showing interest, maybe more? Hurray!

I can't find the photos of my A. 'Apricot Sprite'. It is not a very big plant and the flowers aren't real stand out type flowers. But boy you sure can miss the scent when you walk by or work around the area it is planted in.
I can see I will have to add more agastaches to my garden, I love that scent.

There's also one thread with Salvia in its name in the Perennials Forum and a very long Agastache and Salvia thread (over 400 posts) in the Cottage Gardening Forum. They could also be moved to a new forum.

I see people that are growing it in zone 5b.
With good draining soil and a mulch cover for winter, it might make it in your zone 5a Woofie.

The new USDA hardiness zone map is trying to convince me that we're no longer 5a, but 5b or 6. I think they're lying. Hilarious! Probably in cahoots with the rose sellers! Rolling on the floor laughing

Actually Arif, San Jose area is zone 9b. I lived there almost 50 years, up until almost 2 years ago. I am now 1.5 hrs drive north of San Jose and in 9a.
