Ursula, Kathy and others in harms way, I'm sending special warm thoughts your way and hope you avoid the worst of this snow storm I keep reading about. Stay safe and warm.

It sure does look like a flying duck!
I read a little further, and the article said it blooms for a couple of years, then weakens and dies. Doesn't sound like it would be worth the effort, sadly.
Not the storm, the orchid, may I add!

Sounds like it's going to be bad, Ursula. Batten down the hatches! Mother nature seems to be really irritated with the north east this year. After a week of warm weather, we are back in winter temps (not supposed to hit 60 for the next couple of days), but aside from that, no problem weather here. Keep us posted, if you can.
It is snowing now, but the main whopper of this storm is supposed to be tonight. The Deep Cut Orchid Society Show is going on right now, I was originally going there today. ( About an hour driving South) But I think I table it for Sunday, the Show should still be beautiful then.

Best wishes Ursula and all. This is supposed to be wet snow but hopefully power outages will be minimal. Boston will be a mess. Even 18-20 inches creates problems. With this storm snow plowing will need to become snow removal and on street parking will be tense.
My Rhyncholaelia glauca is now downstairs ( nice snowy afternoon in the background). It smells just wonderful as I am typing this. (And the single bloom pic was still taken in the greenhouse. )
This Coelogyne was bought a couple of years ago as mossiae, but there seems to be some confusion as to some of the as mossiae labeled plants might be Coelogyne Unchained Melody.
Edited to add: It is indeed Coelogyne Unchained Melody!
Dendrobium aberrans x Den woodsii opens a lot of spikes this year.
My second Lc Mini Purple 'Shibuya' is blooming. This one smells very nice too.
And the blooms on the Potinara Hoku Gem 'Sunspots' are now fading to yellow.
Elaine, it is right now a bit slower coming down, but it is supposed to pick up again overnight. Hopefully not so much....
This Bulbo is so ugly, it is cute again?
I wonder how deep Ursula is burried in snow? In spite of it all, that is a wonderful show. The Bulbo just looks like it smells badly but I love it anyway. I guess my favorite would have to be the Rhyncholaelia glauca. Another prize winning species!
Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to the state fair to visit my orchids. I hope our club won a prize. I take a picture of the display.

We are totally fine here this morning, we got ca 1 foot of snow and didn't lose power. It looks really beautiful out there this morning.
The street has been plowed and we will get some exercise digging out later on.
All in all, we didn't get hit too badly here in Fair Lawn.
We got a lot more snow and drifting. Right now the sun is out full blast!

Elaine, I just checked the Bulbo. It doesn't have any smell right now, but then the Greenhouse is still "iglooed". I bet it smells when the sun hits it.
