I doubt that when I gasp that last breath of life, I'm not going to be thinking, "I wish I hadn't bought that last beautiful iris". Hilarious!

Not you too, Laurie!! I am feeling ganged up on-- - Those poor iris are going to have their feeling hurt if they don't join their newfound friends-the 49.

nodding Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling Whistling You guys are a hoot! I am enjoying the banter. Herman would love having to guard Irises that look like those. I'm glad I'm not addicted to growing them... yet! Have to wait and see what I end up with next year after my first attempt at dividing mine.

Must admit, I know the feeling of plant addiction. I love growing Azaleas, and planted 4 new ones this year to add to my 5 existing ones. Next year I plan on adding about another 4 or 5. Roses are also on my list of must have plants. Never had much luck with them here. But this year I've learned how to care for them and am seeing healthy plants!

Fortunately, or unfortunately, my checkbook would never allow me to buy dozens of Irises. My checkbook would probably only allow me one at a time...IF my wife let me even spend that much on one plant. Rolling my eyes.

Only the new introductions are pricey, John. Start by getting some that aren't so new, but that you like in the colors you want. If you have a local Iris club, they might have a sale, and often are quite cheap. Smiling

Robin, I think you can get Keppel irises in Australia via Mid America. You will have to contact Tom Johnson to make arrangements. Smiling

Thanks Tom. I looked into it a couple of years ago and it was very expensive. There's a pretty good chance that the irises I want will be imported by others Smiling

Yes ,John,Tom is right.Try some iris that are not new introductions, and several years older or more. You can get them from reliable vendors for $6.50 to the $12.50 or thereabouts.Of course ,there is shipping cost added on.There are some pretty ones in this price range.
I have been through the rose addiction and some azaleas .( I grew up in North Louisiana where azaleas did very well and were just beautiful) They just never did well through the winter here in Kentucky..I spent countless dollars on new roses every year some 35 years ago.love the smell!
I guess iris are my real love and addiction with daylilies a newer interest.
I do grow other things, just not in the quantity of these.
