Allie, thank you very much! I don't have tricolor but I have had variegated T. fluminensis before. They always revert to plain green when I'm not looking. I'm a Commelinaceae-phile too. From spiderworts to inch plants to oyster plants. Some are easier to cultivate in a pot than others.

Can you get kitty one of those climbing/perch things so she can still see out of the window above & behind plants? Or is it somewhere else that has been blocked?

So far out of 75 varieties I have 12. They do really well for me and grow like crazy under the light.

She has a cat tree that goes all the way to the ceiling and I keep a place cleared in front of the window for her. I move plants if she wants to sit somewhere. I also put a stool in front of the storm door so she can look out. She sits there for hours making sure no one comes into her yard. I'm her servant so she gets whatever she wants Smiling
I love cats! I really really love cats!

Aha, species of Tradescantia. I understand what you mean. Some other genera in the Commelinaceae family are more interesting to me, but Trad does seem to be the "gateway" genus to addiction. It starts with T. zebrina, moves into the heavier stuff like T. spathacea & pallida... and next thing you know you're chasing Tripogandra across the yard by the light of a full moon. ; )
Purple Scimitars (Tripogandra serrulata)

The past few yrs, this is my fav. non-hardy member of the family. It stays small & blooms a lot.
Striped Inch Plant (Callisia gentlei var. elegans)

I screwed up when I forced these Paperwhite bulbs. I forgot to put vodka in the water so they're getting very tall instead of full. I can't believe they're already blooming!

These blooms seem to open @ night, close during the bright part of the day. I think the scent is fantastic!

Thank You! Allie ๐Ÿ˜Š.. I've had most of these plants a long time. Trying to repot a few more for another window to keep the amaryllis bulbs company. They look so bare waiting for blooms.
Had to dig out all the grow lights.
It's rainy and dark here all winter. Bah humbug. Not only do the plants need special lights but so do I. SAD seasonal affective disorder is a real big deal here. Even effects the animals. So we all need a little light therapy .

Sally, I have a plant that I never got a definitive id for that looks very much like your plant in the back of your second pic; would you say that it is a match, and what is it? I would love to know what it is! Thanks for looking!

I was going to say Agave americana, too, but there are some other very similar plants. That one can get huge. We had some in Arizona that were 6 ft high and more than 6 ft wide.

Yes, they can get that big here too. Really cool when one finally blooms but I wouldn't want to mow/weed around one for so long while waiting for that. IDK if that is the correct ID, just a suggestion for comparison.
