Paleo, if you can find 'Minutum' where you are you should get it. It is a really great heuffelii.

I will never again leave plants elevated in the wind in North Texas. My semps looked great January first, and pretty trashed now. If they all die I am just out of here. I'm not buying more.
It's a different thing when a plant is on the ground and the pot is not totally surrounded by freezing air. Mine were on a chair. I was stupid.

I've cleaned them up. I actually looked at post freeze photos from last February and most of them don't look too much worse. There was one I really liked that was trashed, so if I could buy it locally maybe I would pick one up, but no more $80 plant orders.

What is dead: Fuzzy Wuzzy, Kimono
What will probably die: Glauca Minor, Tectorum, Kalinda, Fiesta,
What might live: Happy, Dream Catcher
What will probably live: Gulle Dame, Karola, Mariah Laach, Lady Kelly

That doesn't count what died last year. They may be alpine but they don't live on ski lifts. I didn't bother to take pictures after the cleanup, chunked over on the lot, no sense killing my grass. They have sun and a wire cage over them.

I agree; They look like they are hanging on. I never judge my semps during winter. More often than not, they spring back just to tell you, 'We told you so!"

Found out where to register new cultivars yet?? I just realized that my seedling (now not a seedling) is putting out a heck of a lot of pups. I can't seem to find anything, no matter what I google.

For many plants there is no registration authority for that genus. A publication of the name in a journal, such as the Cactus and Succulent Society or the Sedum Society, does confer on that cultivar an official status. We are in the same boat with Semps although the German site is close and a way to clear up naming issues.

When you do name, heed the rules of naming plants. You can check those on the American Iris Society website.

Today I just harvested hundreds(if not thousands) of Aeonium Simsii seeds. Don't really need Simsii, but variegated is wanted.

It is another beautiful sunny day here in the PNW.
I planted some new semps in small pots, where they will stay until they show new , strong growth.
The garden is showing signs of waking up. Narcissus bulbicodium is blooming, as is Anemone 'His Excellency'. The sempervivum are waking from their winter slumber. Spring is not far off.

'Orange Glow' is definitely showing color.

I think your season is a bit behind ours. You always seen a little colder and wetter than we are here in Oregon City.
