ricos said:Maggie you should be able to grow them outside in the ground under your snow. I get that the beautiful cages you have them in would not like 6 ft of snow. I used to live in a snow belt of Southern Ont. and they grow fine under the snow there. They do not multiply as fast as they do here on the west coast but for some that's ok.
dnrevel said:What a juicy, full thread for 2022 on succulent / sempervirums. I wanted to share my Winter Sowing ice plant success from last year, that may apply to semps as well. I love the plant and couldn't believe that WS the very fine, dust-like seeds worked like a charm. I'm overwintering them indoors, so the first photo is a close-up of the succulent - cactus-like form of the plant:

I live in Michigan, so this is one way to enjoy this plant year round, wintering some indoors and sprouting new plants, as need be. :-)

Chris's beds are so impressive, I can't even imagine how much work that must take. But also worth it when you stand back and look at it. Makes me wanna go back home and rip out all the lawn and get started.
Which reminds, me I am not at home I am in California visiting my sister.
And my computer is still not working and has to go back for repairs.![]()
