Jackie it is fun meeting people on here!! I tip my hat to you. I bet most people on here will say east, so it gets morning sun, or south with some afternoon shade...Mine have southern and western exposure, but in late afternoon shaded, and since its Seattle and we always have some form of precipitation and our heatwaves are usually only in the high 80's having full sun is more important!! Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.

Yep, sure enough, it will just depend on your yard, trees, etc. You want some sun, usually eastern exposure is the mildest sun, full southern exposure is the most intense all day sun, west is the hottest part of the day usually. These are based on sun with no shade trees, etc.
Hope I'm making sense?

Yes that you guys. I will have to put it on the southern side for now until I move. Then I will be able to put them wherever I want. So full sun here in Michigan would be ok then? Do they have to have some sort of shade for part of the day?

Jackie if I were you I would test things out this first year. Place some in full sun and some with afternoon sun, some with morning sun. See which ones do the best in your particular conditions. I know Michigan gets summer rains, so you may not have to water them at all during the summer. You will just have to play around and see what works for you. And who knows, they may do well in all the above placings. Hurray!

I happen to be fond of woven baskets and believe it or not and even in our rain they can last three or more years. The larger brown basket shown I picked up at half price when our Dollar Store went out of business. I picked up many more than shown so I am good to go for a few years with those.

The other two are a deep royal purple color at close out price at our Fred Myer store; about three buck for both of them. So now I am trying to figure out what will best go into the purple ones. They are actually double walled so there is an air space between the inner and outer walls. They are five inches inches inner diameter. Probably too small for a thrill, fill and spill combo... nodding . Anyway I am thinking light green, maybe Green Wheel since I have some of that.

I figure I'll just set these guys around the yard on rocks here and there.

Awesome Connie!! I just went to the thrift store and I saw tons of baskets. Maybe I will have to go and get a few and plant some of my new babies im getting in it and see how they do. It should get plenty of drainage. Im wondering if the dye from the basket on those would interfere with the plants? Not sure probably now but just a though. Those are really pretty though and when you get plants in there they will really pop! nodding

And Sedum 'Limelight' in one of those purple baskets. Lovey dubby
S. funckii would be another great one. Small and green.

Here are the finds I gathered up in the last 2 months. From Dollar Store, and second hand store here in town. Except the talavera pottery in the left side background.

Lynn your semps in the background look so good!! I love the snail and green pot behind it. Also the red pot will really make them pop. Great find's! I also see pots at the dollar store but never end up getting them in fear of having to many pots in my house right now. But Im going to stock up for my new babies that's for sure! Shows us pics please when you get them all planted.

The black salsa mortars, colored wire baskets and soft plastic baskets all came from the dollar store.
The green snail is one of my favorites. Sometimes it is difficult for me to decide to drill holes in them. *Blush*
But holes they must have.

I've been trying to decide what to plant in the green snail?

You have many to choose from Smiling Are you most likely going to plant a mini or small semp size in that one?

I think we should have a potting party when everyone comes for the Hybridizing Clinic.
