That Slc. Anduril Krull's Scarlet is a winner, Elaine. You did good on that one.

I bought those little species Phals from Jim Krull. He had an entire table full of them but he wanted $20 apiece for them so I only bought 3. I'll look for more the next time we go.

Those big Vandas for $10 and $12 are an incredible buy as were the little ones for $7. How can you beat those beautiful orange and yellow Epis for $3? I am also happy with the Cyms at $10 each. The best part is getting together and having fun while shopping. It was a great day.

I do like the Phal species very much and the Myrmechea Christian Fun looks promising. I always like the cheerful reed stem Epis. And I would have also had fun picking the Vandas.
I agree on the Slc. Anduril 'Krull's Scarlet', very nice color!

You guys did well! Thumbs up

Orchids
what wonderful buys you guys got I tip my hat to you.
.Im not so fortunate to have access to so many plants....
Or maybe I am fortunate I dont Big Grin

one phal opened this morning. All my stuff was looking good and watered when I got home. Thank goodness the wind and hail didnt hit me...

Phal (Intermedia X Jungo Viotris). Phal Jungo Viotris is a violacea and equestris hybrid. A Big Leaf Orchid offering from Peter Lin. I think these are seed grown and there's lot of variation in them. This one looks good but not as colorful as ones Ive seen. Smells faintly of honeysuckle.

OMG, I have to go to Apopka before I croak! Thanks for giving Laurel my hug!
I think those small vandas are Mokaras. I'm in love with Slc. Anduril 'Krull's Scarlet,' Phal. Guadalupe Pineda, and your C.intemedia 'Tipo', rkid. I do very well with C. intermedias for some unknown reason!

Leptotes bicolor is loaded with buds this year and just starting to open.

Restrepia antennifera hangs directly over one of the fish tanks and loves it there. It put on a lot of nice growth this Winter. Discovered some open "bugs" today.

I'm loving the Domingoa. Great stripes there!

Of course Jungle Eyes is always a winner. I lost mine to black rot last summer, sadly. When I find another one, will try mounting it instead. It looks great on that mount.

Look at the size of that wonderful Restrepia plant!

I agree with Bree but my favorite is the Leptotes bicolor. Very nice show, Ursula.

I'm on my way to the USFSpring Plant Sale. It should be fun as ther are not only vendors but also clubs selling plants. Fun, fun, fun.

Ted, you are right. I looked at all of the orchid vendors and came away empty handed. It is hard to cozy up to a $40 Vanda when you just bought four of them for $12 each. I did, however, come away with a palm (Licuala peltata var. sumawongii) and a couple of small begonias. It was a nice morning to be walking among the plant people but it is getting too hot to be out there now. It looks like we are into summer temps already.

I know what you mean, Jim. We have a couple of shows coming up. Garden shows, but lots of orchid vendors. The price differences will be amazing. Same vendors, different pricing based on location Angry

Yup, you sure do get the bargains if you go to the vendors' locations instead of buying at the shows. Can't blame them, they take all their best stuff, in bloom, to the shows, have to pay to be there, plus travel expenses.

Sure hope some of the Apopka growers remain open to the public. We putzed around a bit and dropped in to a couple of growers where we were told they do not sell directly to the public, wholesale only. Their loss in my opinion, the ones we did buy from made some nice money that day and they probably would not have sold anything if we had not visited.

One of my Apopka bargains Pot. Elaine Taylor 'Krull Smith' opened its flower this afternoon. (it's on the right in the second picture - color washed out on the others, trying to capture the dark, rich red) I was going to post the bud this morning because it looked just like a rosebud, but . . too late! On the left of Elaine Taylor is Slc. Anduril Krull's Scarlet again. It's a similar color, but very different flower form. Both are small plants which I really like in a catt.

Looking good Elaine!! That is a beautiful red!

Lindsey, the Domingoa haematochila is a small plant, the clump measures ca 4 x 4 inches, it is easily accommodated. ( from Andy btw...)

I spent the early afternoon painting the pond again with Rustoleum paint after a super sanding job ( Klaus did a nice job on that). We will not keep water and plants in that thing over the Winter again, what a mess.
I was done early enough, so I varnished the deck. That needed to be done before I move table and chairs outside and my C&S.
Now please let it be truly Spring!

Finally remembered to take a picture of my bargain Vandas. The two with gold flowers are very small noids, with leaves just about 7in. long. Then I have Aranda Jairak Heartthrob to the right not in bloom, and V. Thonglotsand X Pinsai (not in picture, but it's huge, with a bushel of roots) These are my first Vandas, can't wait to see the two big ones flower! Who knows, it might happen.

With thanks from this orchid forum, my orchid interest has turned a little obsessive!

Burr Stephan Isler is almost done. I don't know who the Islers are but the Stephen and Nelly orchids are about my favorite.

Milt. Mario van Peebles, one I bought at the Smoky Mountain Orchid Society Show and Sale in Knoxville. The name made me laugh.
I love the pansy types but I'll probably kill it as I don't think they like our hot summers.

And I think one of my vanillas might be about to bloom, whoo-hoo! I've never gotten a flower from them.
