Gloria, hang in there. After our ice melted yesterday, it seemed everything woke up with a new shine.
Rita, I would love to live on your block. What a wonderful front yard. Every season is beautiful.

Thank you Betty and Cindi. I do get a lot of passersby and lookers. Everyone in the neighborhood knows my house.

I post some pictures here and on other forums. But if you want to see the complete spring bulb display as it happens then go to my post in the Garden pictures forum called Spring Bulbs Blooming In A Long Island Garden.

The thread "Spring Bulbs Blooming in a Long Island Garden" in Garden Photos forum

I will be posting pictures on that thread until my bulbs all finish blooming. And believe me, it is only just starting around here now.

I have a few blooms so far, both from Palatine that I bought last fall.

Trish - Aren't Palatine's roses the best? Seriously?

Everything's put back on hold for me. Right now it's 38degs and it's supposed to get up to 70. But it's mostly cloudy. This upcoming week, we're expecting our last snow storm of the season and the highs for Mon/Tues/Wed are only in the 20s & the lows in the singles.

As long as we get moisture, I don't care.

They really are.
I was going to purchase 5 more last week to fill in my front, but they didn't have anything in the size that I need that looked good. Silly me- I must not have been in the shopping mood Blinking

My in ground peas that I planted March 21 are finially prouting. Geez that took a long time. The ones in pots, planted later are way ahead. Oh, and my inion sets are sprouting green tops.

My cover crop seeds are mostly sprouted too. The crimson clover is doing nicely but the hairy vetch is just started and the squirrels have made a mess of it by digging.

Unfortunately, this year I am losing the battle with the weeds, as you can probably tell by some of the pictures -- waaaaay too many day lilies! nodding

*sigh* sooooo jealous... this is what I have:

Just got off the phone with Roses Unlimited. My roses got shipped out yesterday, so that means I'll get them probably around Thurs/Friday. I won't be able to put them in the ground for at least another week, though.. winter just won't let go here. Usually it's above freezing at night here by this time, but I'm still looking at some days where it dips down to 30. So maybe next Wednesday I'll be able to put them in or so. I'm also expecting roses from Burling around the first week of May (shipped out April 29th). Plus other roses coming in from here/there/everywhere...

*sigh*

Toni, I'm so sorry about all that snow, but hopefully this will be the last of it for you. We had winds again last night and at 11:00 p.m. I was out on the patio staking my taller potted daylily scapes to make sure they wouldn't break in the wind. But today is much better -- although cooler (65) again. And the Weather Channel is predicting close to 90 by this weekend -- crazy weather! But the roses seem to be loving it!
