Mike, thanks for the link for that method of staking peonies. I think that is how my friend does it that I've never gotten the knack for. It sure helps to have a video of it! I'll try that method on a few next year.

Very end of the columbines: 'Bluebird' (Songbird series) really does have huge flowers.

First hint that there's garden (tall) phlox in the garden: think it's a Flame series Pink.

Got another Penstemon cultivar last year, 'Onyx and Pearls'.
The P. digitalis types do very well here.

Got a number of the Artist series (veronicas), last fall, when a large Sheridan's location closed down.
As previously said, 'Very Van Gogh' proved to be very long blooming here.
The lighting doesn't show it, but this is 'Perfectly Picasso'


Second daylily to start blooming: 'Schnickel Fritz'.
it's in a very sunny location and I'm having trouble capturing the creamy pink colour.

No doubt have already said so, but for me, the big event is the tall/garden phlox!

I don't have much of a deer problem, Charlie but they do make sure they stop by when I try to increase the phlox paniculata show.

The Phloxes are off and running here also. Lots of seedlings in the garden. I plan on tagging the ones that I want to keep after they bloom.

I've given up on phlox paniculata here because of the deer problem. Glad to be able to enjoy the show vicariously via Charlie's photos

We're truly lucky in that the rabbits (in our case) only eat the spring flowering phlox.
What we've really lost from rabbits is the fall flowering New England asters.

Beautiful daylilies Charlie Chances are that if you see a daylily I posted, it's not mine. When NGA which was then ATP, I loaded thousands of daylilies into the database with permission from the vendor. I wish I could take credit but.... They are so fun to see though, eh?

Oh Charlie, how beautiful. Daylilies are also deer candy here so I've been digging up the few I have left and putting them in pots up on my deck. It is so challenging to garden in deer country so in addition to your phlox, I'll have to vicariously enjoy your daylily show Tall oriental lilies are the next thing I will be digging up and potting up for the deck.
