That is sure a dark one Julia.

I agree with twit on the cresting question. Cresting would involve the center of the rosette.
I have a number of semps this year that have grown in that fashion.

I had to go back and look again at the photo before I saw Nina's paw. Thanks for pointing that out Greg. Big Grin

I have a couple like that, they seem really 'crowded' almost like the centers of those old roses (confused, I think it's called) and they don't seem to have chicks, more like just a colony of similar sized rosettes. Love it, love the color! Hurray! I'm very partial to dark red ones...and mahogany, blue, green with red tips...oh, all of them!

I'm especially fond of the tiny ones, although they can be a bit of a challenge at times.

Not as nice or as many as yours, Lynn. I am still anxiously watching the fate of my Orostachys minutum from an early trade last year. Most of them bloomed and only a few of the offsets survived the winter. They are so tiny and also so interesting that I just have to have them in my collection, even though I am planning on downsizing a bit (no pun intended there either!). I am watching them closely.

Spring, I will post pics when I can, but its hard for me to get the kind of pics I want for the smaller ones.

Lynn, we should build a list of the really, really small ones, such as O. minutum and ....Having a senior moment and can't think of any more.

Here you go Greg. The thread "Meet the Miniature Sempervivum" in Sempervivum forum

And S. rubrum is a very tiny one. I have had a difficult time getting that one to establish.
I also lost my wonderful O. minutum to bloom. All of it. Sad

They are so sweet, and many of them grow in a mounding type clump. So would be perfect for small spaces Kate.
