Wow Ursula, your Miltonia spectabilis sure is a generous bloomer. That's been going for a while now! I'm glad the neem oil did the trick for your cute little Pelatantheria insectifera . I am having some serious drama here with my latest neem oil application. It's a new to me brand and it didn't ever emulsify in the spray bottle. Although I vigorously shook the bottle between spays, it quickly separated . Some plants got coated with just water and about 30 got coated with almost pure oil that quickly turned to a sticky mess on the leaves and started frying the plants in the sun days later. Crying trying to remove the oil now is not fun or easy.
But in happier news , a couple of new things open here.

So far, that Neem oil separation didn't happen to me yet. Sounds like a nasty thing to happen. Thumbs down Definitely now something to watch out for!

I like Fuchs Star better then Maikai.
I really think it's slender petals and sepals are very pretty! And the veined tubular lip is a nice compliment to those slender segments.
We see so much in terms of fullness and roundness so for me Fuchs Star is a welcome diversion!! Thumbs up

I was poking through the garden looking for pots I had stashed several months ago and I found a flower on my Bamboo Orchid, Arundina graminifolia.

Perhaps @Bigbill can shed some light on a name or a breeding direction.

Big full yellow Cattleyas are always popular orchid plants. My all time favorite yellow Cattleya is Rlc. Goldenzelle. It has been made and remade a few times.
It is more commonly seen as a full lipped yellow flower, often with a splash of red or amethyst on the lip. There seems to be a lack of a splash here.
Goldenzelles have been seen as reds, watermelon, orange peachy flowers and even a chartreuse color. They often feature a large lip. The really good ones have large full petals. Often the petals have some ruffling to them. Some with too much ruffling are not as desirable in my mind.
Is this a straight Goldenzelle? It could be. Is it a hybrid of Goldenzelle? It could be. The problem is that when you google Goldenzelle flowers, all types of images pop up. Included would be some that look like Prahbi's plant.
Goldenzelle has proven to be a good parent producing lots of colorful flowers. So for me to say that for certain, this is Goldenzelle, I can't. How confident am I that it is, about 50-60%. It could also be a Goldenzelle hybrid. Why do I say that? Well, that's because it is so dominant as a parent. So you would see signs of it in the background of other hybrids.

If I remember, or Ursula, you could do this as well. The Orchid Wiz allows us to look at certain breeders of orchids like H & R. We might be able to check those out and see if some of their Cattleyas are listed with sample images. Off hand, I don't know. But to go through these records and try to put a name on it is next to impossible!!

Edited to add: there is nothing more pretty then a Goldenzelle of good size, with large petals and that gorgeous lip splash. They will make your brains jump out of your head!!!! They are simply breathtaking!!!!

It could be Rlc. Goldenzelle Child. Rlc. Goldenzelle x Rlc. Golden Child.

Are you sure Prabhi that it is an H & R hybrid?? It could be a Carmela Hybrid. They too are from Hawaii, they go to Redlands, I was there in 2014 but more importantly they do a hundred more crosses in Cattleyas then H & R has ever done. Maybe thousands more!
H & R makes nodosa hybrids, walkeriana hybrids, little crosses. H & R doesn't do much hybridization with large, standard Cattleyas!!

Maybe it is from Carmela Orchids this is the first one to bloom. All the tags carried away from Birds.

You have got to stop using tags if the birds take them.
This year I had chipmunks steal some of my Phragmipedium tags that I summer outside. I am switching to a master list on my laptop. From now on I will write a three digit number on to the pot. One on the side, and the same number on the bottom of the pot.
That way I will know that #114 is Phrag. Acker's Angel. Then if the chipmunks hang around, there won't be any tags. It is either that or maybe using wire will a hole punched in the tag and attach it to a pseudobulb or something.

Yes, Joshua has been busy. I have a huge backlog of photos to be added as well.
Prabhi, my squirrels have been taking tags that are just stuck in the pots. They haven't figured out how to untwist the wires ... yet.
Some plants don't lend themselves to wiring a tag to them though, so I heat up the long end of a rhizome clip with my torch and poke it through the top of the plastic pot. The hot wire goes right through the plastic like butter, making a nice hole for me to securely wire the tag to the pot.
