*Blush* I already put dibs on Rick's ostrich fern via the swap tool

Potted up a couple rooted pieces of Kentucky Colonel Spearmint and Felicia's Phlox this morning, will add to my list.

The Lime Basil got dry the other day, and I'm not sure they'll recover, but Crossing Fingers!

Thank, Rick! I have some of the wood poppy growing next to my deck, where it will get trashed (resurfacing the deck soon I hope) unless I move it. Not sure how well it transplants, but I guess well enough! Should I dig and pot it so it has better roots before putting it into the treeline?

That would be the better option. A nice, loose and damp soil would be best. Their roots don't go that deep. Water them after putting in the pots to minimize shock.

Putting them in pots will allow you to move them around the new location to see what looks best. Plus, you don't need to be in a hurry to dig new holes right away.

Also, be aware of any seed pods that are close to ripe. When they pop, seeds will travel. You'll have a new colony in no time.

Sounds like there's room for my usual pepper slaw with the sweet oil and vinegar dressing. "Southern Living Crispy Coleslaw"
Plant it and they will come.

Thanks, Rick. If you have a chance to pull any extras, I'll get them potted the next day, so even stuffing a bunch into one pot (or bag) would work. I'd love a "colony" of them! (I had just one next to the deck for years, and this spring I was all excited to see 3.)

Rick, I moved a bunch of Montauk Daisy cuttings (should start rooting soon) into an 8" pot for you, spaced them maybe an inch apart, so you'll need to up-pot them once they strike roots.

I'm hardening off tomatoes, peppers, and basils... will update my list with extras but maybe not until a day or two before the swap. If anybody didn't get mint, LMK, and I can stick some cuttings.

Right now, there's a limited amount near my deck (spearmint) and at the top of the driveway (peppermint). I should have lots to share next year if I'm successful in propagating it in my tomato garden and veggie bed. The Chocolate Peppermint gets thuggish enough to strangle lesser plants, but I figure tomatoes should be able to hold their own against it. The Kentucky Colonel Spearmint, OTOH, plays well with others. Both of them should be good at confusing and confounding bunny noses.

@sallyg
Sally, I have a bunch of 4" pots for you from my neighbor.

@aspenhill
Terri, I have a small pile started for you:
-5-6 forsythia
- bunch of wood poppies
- bunch of ostrich fern

Do you want any of the lamium that's listed in the swap? It has a green & white leaf and a yellow floer spike in the spring.

Does anyone want or need any gallon-sized nursery pots?

Rick, I think Terri said she'd pass on the wood poppy, but stuff them into a bag/pot for me please! (I'm happy to repot them when I get them home.)

Glad you found those pots for Sally. I have extras of larger pots, but I seem to recycle (re-use and give away) the smaller ones more quickly.

Sheela stopped by this afternoon and dropped off some perennials to share. I'll try to list them on the swap tool before midweek or might just put them on the "free to good home" table. She found a couple of things to take home, including a shoot from the fig that we were happy her DH could dig up.

Generous soul that he is, he went on to start 3 holes for my new hydrangeas! I'm about to get medieval on the clumping liriope in that area, so if anybody wants some, please speak up before it's history. It is clumping, not running, but after 15 years of not being divided, it has spread from a tidy border to something 6-8 feet wide. It does make a nice edging plant and will clearly tolerate shade just fine.

TREE BABIES!
Does anybody want Rose of Sharon (I actually found one that had a bloom last year) or Mulberry? I'm sure there are some wild cherry babies out there also. Oh, and there's an American Holly baby, too! already put a couple of Red Maple on my list, but I'm not potting up the others unless requested. I'll just take my loppers to them.

Rick, yes for me on that lamium ground cover with the yellow flowers.

Back patio where we'll be gathering is all pressure washed Hurray! So is the conservatory deck. Things are really shaping up but of course everything that I want to have done before you guys come won't be. Still, the place looks so much better than it did with the complete overgrown 3 foot high dead stilt grass and other weeds covering every single garden from the total neglect of the last few years. Mike and his siblings Bonnie and Richard have been a godsend with help and even Richard's neighbor Casey has jumped in with a helping hand the last few weekends.

Sorting through some pots, I found one with soil in it... and a baby oak tree that's probably 3 1/2 feet tall! Oak, anybody? I'm not good at tree ID, but here's a shot of two of its leaves...

Even covered in stilt grass her gardens are gorgeous! I can't wait to see the recent projects.

I just added sweet onions to my list. Theresa's brother ordered 1000 baby 'Candy' onions ("so the price would be reasonable"), and they sent 2 boxes, so they had just a few extra. I stuck a bunch in shallow flats to recover, as they were looking rough. They have new green top growth, so I planted out a bunch today, and I saw new roots on them as well. These are not onion sets, they are baby onions, and they should do much better than sets. I figured most people aren't going to want 100 onions, so I offered them in packs of 25.

I also added another trumpet creeper to my list. @5601Lisa, you called dibs on the first one, and I wanted to be sure you knew what you were getting... Don't put this one on your cute white fence, because it will pull the fence down. It's glorious, but it's a big bruiser of a plant, not unlike Wisteria in the size of the vine.

The oak, could be a natural hybrid in the black or red oak group. I think I see sharp tips that that rule out white oaks. Anyhoo, NOT for me. I only wish I had the land for tree planting. Sighing!
Plant it and they will come.

Thanks, Sally! I knew it wasn't pin oak or white oak, but beyond that, nada.

It had a second little branch starting 2" up its trunk, and I clipped that off, so now it's a whip sapling, with a tuft of leaves at the top. I don't have any oaks, but there are some nearby (obviously), and I do have squirrels!

Does anybody want clumping liriope? I threw some rooted pieces into a pot yesterday when digging holes through it... @RickM, it's quite shade tolerant.
