Ok, counting down the days! Rick will be sending out the directions Wednesday night. I have put all the attendees in the first post who have indicated in this thread that they are coming. I do see @sulurph and @KathySteve have activity in the swap tool so I am adding them to the list. If you don't see your name, please chime in.

I think the posted swap time is 12:00 - 4:00 but anyone is welcome to come earlier and/or stay later! Pretty flexible and it is always kind of enjoyable to sit and wind down with the fellow die hards at the end of the day Smiling

We will have a cooler filled with bottled water and Lisa is bringing sangria, but if you prefer something else to drink you can bring your preference with you. I will have a spare cooler to keep it cold.

@Robinbunch5, do you want more than one red maple? I potted 2 "toddler" size ones, and nobody else has dibbed one.

Just to be clear, these are not japanese red-leafed maples, they are Acer rubrum. Somebody stopped by the other day and got all excited when I offered her a red maple, then looked at it and said, that's not a red maple! Well, no, it's not red all the time, but it should be brightly colored in fall!

Nobody has called dibs on the Kerria japonica. It's a fairly tall piece in a big pot, so I won't bring it over unless somebody speaks up for it!

I added another piece of Louisiana iris. Also looked at my basil tray, and they've recovered from getting a bit dry, although 'Lime' still looks a bit rough (it's growing new leaves). I put 4 of each basil on my list, up from 2... but I'm not going to bring extras, because I can use them for seeds.

Also, other than Sheela (who picked hers up), nobody has put dibs on specific varieties of tomatoes. I'm going to count 'em up and put aside a few for Martina, then just bring the rest. If you would like tomatoes from me but don't care what variety, please make a request like "I'd like 3 tomatoes please." I should have a few extra dwarf tomatoes as well.

Oh! And I for sure have extra ground cherry plants, which I don't think I put on my list yet. They look like little tomatillos (fruit enclosed in a papery husk) but have a sweet flavor. Harvest them when they drop to the ground, otherwise they won't be fully ripe. I just eat them fresh, but people also use them in preserves. I grew 'Loewen Family Heirloom' this year, from SSE.

Sheela dropped off clumps of several perennials. I've potted them and added them to the trade list, in case anybody wants to call dibs on them. I didn't divide the huge clump of Stella d'Oro daylilies -- if you take it, you could easily get a dozen divisions from it.

Jill, thanks for asking but I think one red maple will be enough, my sister Joyce wants it. I can't wait to see everyone and see Terri's gardens.

You're welcome, Sheela. Thank you for sharing! I'm filling a couple of water garden pots with hostas, so I did keep a piece of each and a piece of the shasta daisy. Oops, just realized I forgot to list the spiderwort... brb

Theresa might stop by, but she's got a busy schedule that day and is leaving for a trip Sunday. I'll bring double food and gift table items so she can just bring herself!

Did you know there's a place called Permaculture Gardens on the way to Aspen Hill? looks like it's on the other side of that split rail fence? I had no idea. https://growmyownfood.com/

Look up your address on google maps, and it's right next to you. You're right, that website doesn't have location info, which is odd.'

I see unusual businesses pop up on maps sometimes, that seem to be just highlighting a business address not necessarily a storefront or in this case actual planted and open to public property.
Plant it and they will come.

@crystalsalt or anybody who knows, what is this plant? maybe japanese forest grass? I have 2 pots of it from Sheela!

I have some rooted pieces of Vinca minor... this spreads, but not nearly as thuggishly as Vinca major. Does anybody want it? If not, I'll toss it.

Ditto for a big pot of Bishop's Weed. It does spread vigorously, but I haven't seen it pop up anywhere but in the side bed where I planted it (bordered by the house and by a walkway). The variegated leaves are pretty, and it's easy to pull, but left to its own devices it will choke out things like ferns and heuchera.

Hmm, didn't see the "tiny townhouse" thing. Photos show mulberries and large garden spaces... OK, weird pop-up and not a potential stop on the way to the swap!

Jill - are you missing a pic of the mystery plant?

All: I've added two lil packets of the Fragrant Nicotiania should there be interested. Just collected last summer/fall.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

oops! Thanks, Chantell. I posted it now.

There's also something with a rosette of leaves almost like sorrel, but without the red veining. I didn't get a photo of it yet. Found it when I moved the clump of DLs to bag it. I also found another smaller clump of Stella d'Oro and will add it to the tradelist

Anybody wondering about vinca minor or bishops weed, but never grown it, I advise caution.

Anybody want small plant of comfrey? I expect it will grow vigorously. Later becomes a big leafed thing, likes sun, some organic garden uses are written about web-wide.
Plant it and they will come.

I agree, Sally. But if you have an area with distinct boundaries (island bed under a shade tree, foundation bed, etc) where you want a ground cover, they can work well.

Persicaria virginia will show up nearby through volunteer seedlings, but Vinca minor and bishops weed seem to spread by runners rather than by seeds (at least in my yard).

I'm going to call the mystery grassy thing Japanese Forest Grass for now, so I can put it on the tradelist.

I split off a second piece of both of Sheela's green & white tall hostas, going to bump the quantity on those.
