I agree Indeed, what a feast! And what a wonderful afternoon in such beautiful surroundings. It was so nice getting to visit with so many of our gardening group and a lovely surprise to see Cheryl and your sister again. What a lot of work went into hosting us. Thank you so much for a special day.

Well thanks all for coming! We had a great time too. Mike thoroughly enjoyed it and meeting those he hadn't met before. The food spread was awesome and I am so glad the rain held off until late afternoon.

Sue, thanks for posting the photos. Great shots of us having fun.

Sally, I looked at my records for the calycanthus that was blooming by the walk down to the pond - you had noticed that the blooms are bigger than the straight species that you have. You are right, it IS a cultivar after all. It is called 'Aphrodite'. I have two others - 'Venus' which is a white form and 'Athens' which is a yellow form. Interesting cultivar names.

What a great party -- friends, food, plants, and an amazing location. Terri & Mike, thank you so much for hosting!

I'm still gobsmacked at all the work you've been doing outside this spring. I think Mike said nearly 10 pallets of mulch went down. And I know before mulch went down, weeds came up!

Sue, fun photos, thank you for taking them. Your shot of the millstone fountain reminded me of seeing the kids enjoying it yesterday - no way to resist that frog spitter!

“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Time to get serious about a fall bulb order!

ADR generally has the best prices (except on crocus bulbs, cheaper at van Engelen). There's a mini double version of the classic Tete a Tete daffodil that I'd love, but I need "takers" for them since they come in a crate of 500. 50 for $6.50, anybody?

Donner and I are sharing a box of 'Foxtrot' double pink tulips, just gorgeous, looks like we have 20 extra for $10.

I also really want amaryllises this year. $7-$10 for JUMBO bulbs!

Please go to the fall bulb discussion/order thread to join the fun: The thread "2023 Fall Bulb Order" in Mid Atlantic Gardening forum

I'd like to put in the ADR order after the weekend. The thread "2023 Fall Bulb Order" in Mid Atlantic Gardening forum

Double yellow mini daffs ('Tete Deluxe') available, 25 for $9!

Also looking at amaryllises and oriental hyacinths, which usually arrive after the fall swap -- we can arrange a pickup in Frederick or closer to Leesburg. I can probably hold amaryllis bulbs until the seed swap, also, although that's more successful some times than others.

I'm especially interested in
Striped Amadaeus, double, white with red Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Striped Amadeus')
Gervase, multihued pink & white Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Gervase')
Samba, red & white, unique rounded form Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Samba')

Sheila, the zucchini plant you gave me is flourishing! I wasn't expecting to pick any yet, so the first one got away from me and grew to 15". The seeds were still soft, so we fried it up and made 2 meals of it! Thank you!

I posted the recipe on a thread I just started in the fruit & veggie forum, The thread "Calling All ZUCCHINI Recipes!" in Vegetables and Fruit forum I guess I'm anticipating a nice little harvest from this plant, if the vine borers don't find it. :-)
